Anyone have an 08 or 09 5 and running 34 or 36 double chainset? I know with the 36 the chain just catches on the swingarm but what about with the 34?? Orange recommend a 32 but as the 36 only just catches a 32 seems a big jump down. Apparently earlier 5's are fine with the 34. Help please.

i run a 2007 with 36/24 set up. The chain kept catching swingarm pivot so i fitted a spacer behind the driveside BB cup and problem sorted.

This should be the same for 08/09 also.

No problems with chain line then? If my bike wasn't brand new I'd angle grind a couple of mm off the swingarm but the warrenty would go the way of the sparks. Maybe I'll try a spacer. Many thanks.

not that i've noticed but then i'm not fussy about that kind of thing. nothing grinds, nothing skips, nothing hops.

if you're using a double and bash it's unlikely you're going to push the larger chainring out as far as the largest ring on a triple setup is it?
if anything you'll improve chainline on average by doing as suggested above.
