After multiple decades of exploring the world of crisps and similar snacks, I can confirm that in my opinion the Jacob’s Cheese and Onion flavoured Crinkly is The King of Snacks.

Discuss.

I'm in complete agreement with you about the dominance of the cheese variety when it comes to snacks, but the addition of Red Leicester has truly changed the game.

How can you improve on the original Mini Cheddar? Surely the king of savory snacks. Simple... add Red Leicester to make it even cheesier.

These two are battling it out for dominance in our house at the moment, depending on what mood I'm in

Pork scratchings surely, or anything fried and salted for the veggies and vegans.

IHN - I've not tried those before. Never even seen them. I intend to rectify this at the first available opportunity 🙂

willard - a fine choice, yet why do loads of supermarkets not stock them, while thy do stock the far inferior S&V, C&O and RS multipacks? It needs sorting!

These are awesome too....

Whut? Does a mini-pork pie, (or multiple thereof, (or one medium version)) not count as a snack these days??

Walkers mango chutney mini poppadoms

Actually, I am rather partial to these.

Walkers mango chutney mini poppadoms. Or supermarket own brand bacon fries - particularly good added to a sandwich.

What Nice n Spicy NikNaks should always have been

Ah, but I bet you haven't tried

There's a warning on the packet for a reason! If anyone can eat a whole bag in one go I'll send you a prize. 🤯

I'm with Binners. Seabrook Lea and Perrins for the win.   None for me currently, kicked all the snack and stuff and I'm down 5-6kg in 4 weeks.

Needed to as piled on a few KG since breaking my pelvis and a long slow recovery to get active fully. Hitting the miles now and watching the carbs, and snacks are completely out.

I wasn't always a big fan of nuts as a beer snack.  Salted or dry roasted peanuts were always a bit meh for me.  But these tubs of M&S nuts are exceptional. More interesting and I think higher grade nuts, plus a tasty spice mix or just a lot of salt. Bought them for a long train ride from an M&S at a station and they're now a purchase whenever I'm shopping in M&S.  £6 a tub though.

I'm not saying they're "the one" but,

Salt and vinegar KP Skips have appeared at my corner shop and they're everything they sound like.

Right there with you here brother, aside from Nik Naks being grim, I've been forever ruined by the scampi & lemon ones.  "Mucky woman" should not be a flavour unless it's actually a mucky woman.

S&V Discos were amazing.

Even the stick to the roof of your mouth bit wasn't annoying as it meant could spend longer tasting them

This is like one of those "if you were only allowed one bike" threads.  It's just not a fair or reasonable game.

One of our local pubs used to do bags of jalapeno seasoned/ flavoured mini pretzels and I've not seen anything above that trumps that so far (despite some very fine suggestions and a few questionable ones).

Snyder's Pretzel Pieces. The honey mustard and onion ones are the best. I discovered them in my then local too, but they have them in some supermarkets now, often with other American crap like Hershey's.

A Indian chap I used to work with brought tupperware boxes in full of the stuff (Chivda, to give it its proper name) - home made by his mum. It was so much better than anything you can buy in a packet! It was amazing. We used to get paper cups and scoop a cupful of the stuff and drink it. Heaven 😀

All of these snacks are savoury, you are not my people.

Or perhaps you are, as that way all the sweet snacks are left for me?

No mention yet for the Russian Roulette of the snack world, Wasabi Peas?

Delicious sweet, savoury snack, with the extra excitement of knowing about one in every six is like savoury explosive charge, primed to blow your mind and have you snorting like Daniella Westbrook in the toilets of Tramp in 1994.

You can buy them in 2kg tubs from Amazon

Back in the 90s I was sent out to try and get some lunch for a team of guys I was working with on a Sunday - everywhere around was shut - finally found one shop open that only really buicuits and sweets - all weird unknown brands and suspiciously cheap. Amongst the selection were 'Shockers'  - "4 Licorice Flavour Gumballs - which ones the shocker" it said on the pack. Basically a pack of large ominous black gobstoppers with a Russian roulette twist - cool.

Bought a load for everyone and passed them around at lunch - everyone munched away waiting to find out what the surprise was - super sour? super hot? 'has my tongue turned black?

No - the surprise ingredient was..... ammonia.

I've worked on a few bollywood movies and while everything about the experience ranges from baffling to outright alarming .... zOMG! the snacks!

Back when I was in an office, three things stopped it cold dead.

1) Babies.  Not for me, I'll go hide.  Get back to me when you have kittens.

2) Neil, old boy, close to retirement, has made cupcakes.  He was an outstanding baker, he'd walk in with a huge biscuit tin and there would be a stampede to the kitchen.

3) Kash, Muslim lad, he'd bring in leftovers from what his missus had made for Eid or weddings or what have you.  Samosas and bhajis, breads and curries, piles of the stuff, you'd never want to go to a BIR again.  An email would go out, "Kash has brought food in!" and you'd here the thundering as everyone steamed down the stairs.

But these tubs of M&S nuts are exceptional.

I have to agree, M&S do exceptional snacking nuts.

On the Indian snack front, I work with mostly offshore folk but before Covid we'd always have a few onshore and they'd often bring in snacks from the homeland. of particular note are Bhakawardi. Slightly sweet but also spicey hot, a comfortably challenging kind of heat. You can them here in packets but they must have had authentic maybe home made versions. I'd take them over any mini cheddar nonsense.
