The XC in Les Gets was another intense event. Riders battled it out in short track for their starting place in finals. The conditions were pretty grim, with slippery sections, roots and rocks to contend with, riders did their best to take on the conditions and each other. France’s Loana Lecomte is a force to be reckoned with, taking her fourth win. In the men’s race, Swiss rider Mathias Flückiger came out on top.
It was fantastic to see Evie Richards get third ahead of Tokyo, her best elite world cup finish to date. Following the Olympics, the next round of the XC World Cup is in Lenzerheide on 3-5 September.

Wow, that looked very slippy!
Great result for Evie Richards!
Why do none of them run any kind of front mud guard?
If it is muddy then it will cause a built up a mud that then needs carried about with them as the gap between tyre and arch is smaller with a mudguard attached…
Perhaps no-one has sponsored them so they don’t need to use them…
They don’t mind the mud as it leaves their skin nice and smooth…
They all agree they look ridiculous and don’t want to use them…
There is an underground, secretive secondary race running at the same time and it is all about seeing who can break the washing machine first just with their race clothing…
@wzzzz
Mudguards may stop spray, but anything remotely effective will reduce mud clearance and introduce additional places for mud to build up – and stopping mid-race to clear a build up of mud is lost time
I’ve never had a front mudhugger or crud XL clog up
I run them to stop mud going in my eyes or glasses and mouth
Surely not being able to see where you are going is more of an issue
