It’s been a tough old year for everyone. And while BikePark Wales was forced to close last year, it gave the owners a chance to work on the whole place without worrying about riders getting in the way of digging, or of digging getting in the way of the riders having a good time.
With this new BikePark Wales ‘behind the scenes’ style movie, Martin Astley, Rowan Sorrell and some of the other team talk through the new trails, the new buildings and the enhanced booking and outdoor areas. With something like 43 trails now on offer, from Green graded to Black and even ‘Pro’ lines, there should now be something for everyone. Although Rowan and Martin both admit that BikePark Wales will never be ‘finished’.
They say:
“The past 13 months have undoubtedly been tough for everyone in so many ways that none of us could ever have predicted. Here at the park we haven’t been immune and the pandemic has undoubtedly left its scars. That said, we didn’t stand back and watch the days pass by, instead we made each day count and focused on making the park the best it has ever been!
So many aspects of the park have been improved that you will hardly recognise it when you next visit. Everything from our brand new visitor welcome & hire building to additional car parking and above all new and exciting trail developments. “
Grab a biscuit and a brew and have a look at some of the new lines and the revamped bits of BikePark Wales in its ‘Making the best of it’ celebratory movie.
And we’ll hopefully see you there soon… As the BikePark Wales team says:
We are so incredibly excited to be back open and watching riders enjoying the park once again. The sound of laughter and bikes buzzing by is something we have really missed.
From all the team here at the park we would like to say a huge thank you. None of this would be possible without our amazing customers and we simply cannot wait to see you on the trails again soon!

That’s a lovely little video. Great to see the passion is (and has been) still there given the challenge of the last year.
I’ve never been to BPW. I grew up a couple of valleys over (the Rhondda), and left about 25 years ago. It’s been amazing watching how they’ve developed something so special in Merthyr Tydfil! Andreu bl**dy Lacondeguy has been to the valleys as a result of the hard work of the team behind BPW. That is bonkers.
Think I’m going to have to sort myself out and get there this year.
