We’ve crammed so much stuff into this week’s Fresh Good Friday we worry we won’t have room for our Easter Eggs this weekend!
If you have been following FGF recently then you’ll know that Andi spent some time on a not so secret mission. After 2 weeks of wrenching for the pros, he arrived home to a massive selection of fresh new goods.
Let’s delve in to the goodness!
NS Define AL 170
- Price: £3999.99
- From: Hotlines
This big travel mullet bike from NS has been with the Singletrack crew for a good few months already, even though it was only announced today! The NS Define AL 170 is a long travel enduro/park bike that the UR team will be making good use of over the coming season. We’re not going to give you all the details because the latest edition of the Singletrack Magazine has the full review!
Singletrack Issue 136
- Price: From £7.50
- From: Singletrack Store
If you want to read the full review of the 2021 NS Define AL 170, or the review of the Last Tarvo and Nukeproof Giga then you’ll want to get your hands on a copy of our latest magazine. This is a special edition mag, celebrating 20 years of Singletrack with great future and retro content to consume! Pick one up today
Pole Taival Frame
- Price: €725.81 +VAT
- From: Pole
Originally ordered for a Winter bike project, Andi’s Taival took its sweet time making its way from Pole HQ to the UK. Andi has chosen a medium-sized frame and in true Pole fashion it measures up longer than most large bikes. Andi can’t wait to take sit on his long purple Pole and will be building it up with kit we might not normally see on a bike build. Watch this space.
Peatys Wet Weather Lube
- Price: £11.99
- From: Silverfish
Made for wet weather riding, the new Link Lube Wet from Peaty’s is specially formulated to keep your shifting sweet even when riding through deep bogs of water and epic rain storms. The Irish Coffee scented lube comes with the same rounded applicator as the original Link Lube and has, so far, kept Andi’s chain’s running smooth through the winter.
Fizik Gravita Versor Flat Shoes
- Price: £124.99
- From: Extra
We’ve already had a first look of the new Fizik range of shoes, but Andi arrived home to find a pair of his very own sat on his doormat. He hasn’t ridden in them yet, but he confirms they’re quite comfortable, and he likes the face the laces are angled away from the bike along with the taller inside for ankle protection. Andi plans to ride these along with the new Five Ten and RC shoes and put together a monster flat shoe review.
Kenny Gravity Gloves
- Price: TBC
- From: Kenny
Kenny clothing is very well known around the world, but we don’t tend to get much of it over here in the UK. The brand makes pretty much everything you could need to wear both on and off the bike, or MX bike for that matter. These Gravity gloves are a size 10, so a little large for Andi, but we’ll see if someone else can test them, or maybe we can try to shrink them in the wash?
Polar Breakaway Muck Insulated Bottle
- Price: From $14.00
- From: Polar Bottle
Unior Workshop Apron
- Price: TBC
- From: Unior
Despite having this apron for the entire duration of his trip, Andi has only just opened it up… Made by the same people who make top-quality bicycle tools, the Unior workshop apron is made of strong durable material that feels like it will be easy to wipe clean and should last longer than all those hoodies that are now ruined!
Unior Bottle Opener
- Price: TBC
- From: Unior
Any true mechanic has a favourite tool, something that can fix any problem big or small. For Andi his magical tool is a bottle opener. Yes, he does open it for the odd beer, but it’s also handy for fizzy pop bottle too, and there’s even a spanner at the other end too.
Troy Lee Designs Descent Jacket
- Price: £175
- From: Saddleback
While it might be sunny and hot while writing this, Andi isn’t kidding himself into thinking he won’t have a chance to test these Troy Lee Designs jackets before summer. The Descent is the more substantial waterproof jacket with a 10,000mm waterproof rating, taped and welded seams and a large hood for using over a helmet. The jacket also features zip pockets and an adjustable waist for that perfect fit.
Troy Lee Designs Shuttle Jacket
- Price: £100
- From: Saddleback
If you just need to keep the chill off, or if you want something in case of a rain shower emergency then the Shuttle jacket looks like a good option. This lightweight jacket is packable and is thin and breathable enough to slip on when in the uplift to keep the cold air and drizzle off.
Adidas Five Ten Brand of the Brave Shorts
- Price: £60.00
- From: Five Ten
Though known for their ultra-sticky shoes, Five Ten does also make a few items of clothing that are functional on the bike but casual enough to be worn off the bike. The Brand of the Brave shorts are made of a soft, stretch material for comfort and have a regular/relaxed fit for style. The shorts offer plenty of storage too with a single zip front pocket, 2 side pockets and even a small pocket on the rear.
Galfer Disc Pads
- Price: TBA
- From: Galfer
Spanish brand Galfer is widely regarded as one of the best manufactures of discs and pads. The brand is the OEM supplier for large motorcycle brands, so they should know a thing or two about stopping power. Rather than just organic and metallic pads, Galfer offers more options to suit racers, and ebikers too. We have a few to test over the coming months will let you know how they perform.
Galfer 223mm Discs
- Price: TBC
- From: Galfer
As eBikes are generally bigger and heavier than your standard bike, Galfer has produced these monster 223mm disc rotors to haul even the heaviest of eebs to a stop. Of course you can always use these monster rotors on non ebikes too, which I’m sure we’re going to try!

That Pole is gurt lush. Look forward to a riding review.
Looking forward to the big flat pedal shoe review. When it happens though, can you please pay attention to width, particularly at the toebox?
@Kayak23 take a look on my insta @andisykes and you’ll see it built up! Super purple
@onzadog yup will do
Always wanted to try Galfer products, but there’s no way to buy them online. They seem to be impossible to get hold of, and their own website seems to be for dealers only.
Galfer is a Spanish company with headquarters at the Circuit de Catalunya near Barcelona. Or is it still April !st. Great brake pads Btw
I know ebikes are heavier but I would have thought that rider weights vary by more. Maybe we’ll see bikes with different disc options based on your weight.
Yes, David, they are Spanish. Andi’s been doing so much continent-crossing that his brain is still catching up. Fixed for ya.
Loving the Kenny clothing.
“Andi can’t wait to take sit on his long purple Pole” – Add the “a” but please don’t the “take”…
Mmmmm, Irish Coffee scented lube…
That Pole look uncannily like my old Dialled Alpine.
@mildred it’s about twice the length though
@honourablegeorge Rush Cycles in S Wales stock Galfer stuff.

Bikester do galfer stuff. I have the exact same pads and monster rotors to try. Exciting times!
That Pole… so now we know where the rest of the Marino / Sick! frames ended up!
