We’re feeling hungry for Pipedream’s Titani-Yum Moxie

by 2

With just 24 being produced the 2020 Titanium Moxie hardtail is set to be one of this year’s most exclusive frames.

It was teased just a few weeks ago and now it has been made official! Pipedream is bringing back the Titanium Moxie hardtail as a limited edition frameset with only 24 being manufactured.

We’re still waiting to see the final frame.

These exclusive hardtail frames follow the same geometry as the latest MK3 steel Moxie hardtail, feature sliding dropouts and Pipedream’s patented ultra-low standover height. Like the steel Moxie, the Ti version will only come in 2 sizes but with a short seat tube and generous reach numbers, the sizes are pretty accomodating.

2020 Titanium Moxie Geometry

A: Head Angle6464
B: Seat Angle (effective)77.577.5
C: ST C-T420420
D: TT Length (effective)612652
E: HT Length105105
F: BB Drop6464
G: Chainstay Length (min-max)425-441425-441
H: Wheelbase12281268
X: Reach470510
Y: Stack641641

Using the same length seat tube on both frames lets riders choose their size based on reach and top tube length and not have to worry about how tall their finished bike will be. Seat tubes on the Ti Moxie are just 420mm long meaning a 200mm+ dropper isn’t going to be an issue.

Although Pipedream is keeping the complete frame a secret from us for now, photos provided with the press release do highlight key features of the frame.

Around the threaded bottom bracket shell, there’s a neatly machined yoke providing room for either 27.5in or 29in wheels. Sliding dropouts feature 16mm of adjustment for either dialling in handling or tensioning a single-speed chain.

Cable routing is external apart from the last section of dropper post hose/cable, which enters the short seat tube through a port for stealth routing. And like all Moxies the Ti frameset comes with a chunky metal head badge.

Classic metal head badge.

Interestingly, Pipedream is keen to point out that the Moxie isn’t just a hardcore hardtail, and will happily double up as a bike-packing rig if you wanted. There are more details in the press release below, but if you’ve already mentally bought one you’ll need £1749 for the frame or a deposit of £749 to pre-order one.

Press Release Follows:

Possibly the most refined hooligan of its time, a design that won’t be pigeon-holed, a bike that blurs the lines between badass and bike-packing.

“Our mission is to create the most aesthetically beautiful and highest performance steel and titanium bicycle frames.”

The Titanium Moxie* is the epitome of our design philosophy: a simple and elegant hardtail that’s confident at Whistler and will happily take you deep into the wilderness for epic adventures.

We’ve brought this bare-metal-beauty bang up-to-date with the same geometry as our MK3 steel Moxie. With a quad butted custom top tube, a curved and triple butted downtube – both ovalised – and a stylish Scotchbrite finish with sandblasted decals, the Moxie Ti now has sliding dropouts for even more versatility.

Available in 2 size options – Long and Longer – this rarest of Moxie’s is the modern Titanium hardtail that’s ready for anywhere and for anything.

Longer, not taller

The dropper post is possibly the most important MTB innovation of the past decade: our signature short seat tube offers the rider more choices than traditionally sized frames that lengthen their seat tube as the frame size increases. This feature allows the rider to fit the bike based on reach, standover and dropper length, delivering comfort, stability, agility and performance dialled up to 11.
