Joe Murray brand launches the Voodoo Bizango Carbon for £1000 with SX 12-Speed Eagle, RockShox forks and more!
The £1000 price point is producing some really stunning bikes these days. Bike brands are competing to release mountain bikes with quality components, and real MTB geometry that riders on a budget can appreciate and develop on. These ‘budget’ bikes not only perform well but are pretty good at producing jealous looks from riders on significantly more expensive bikes too.
For the relatively affordable price of £1000, mountain bikers have a good selection of alloy hardtails to choose from, and there are even award-winning full-suspension bikes available too.
Until recently though, bikes at this price tend to be made of alloy or steel, but a new model from Voodoo sees carbon fibre finally breakthrough at this level too.
The Voodoo Bizango Carbon is a full carbon hardtail that’s available through the Halfords website, and we assume in certain stores too. The new bike builds on the popularity of the alloy Bizango but with a new frame material and a promised complete weight of less than 13kg.
We’ve seen other bikes launch in the past that have one standout component to tempt buyers in only to be let down by cut corners, but as far as we can see, the Voodoo Bizango Carbon looks like an honest to good mountain bike with components we would happily ride on.
The carbon frame comes in a classy burnt orange or rust paint and is built around 29in wheels. The specifications confirm the frame does have Boost wheel spacing front and rear and is designed as a 1x only bike.
Hanging off the frame is an SRAM 1 x 12 SX Eagle groupset with an 11-50t cassette, SX Eagle rear mech and even an SX Eagle Boost chainset too. Brakes are powerful hydraulic Shimano MT400 models with 180mm rotors and that fork is a 120mm travel RockShox Judy with rebound control and lockout.
Voodoo’s own brand components fit out the cockpit, bars, stem and the seat post. It doesn’t come with a dropper but if you hunt around one can be had for less than £100 these days.
Those 29in wheels feature double wall Voodoo branded rims, laced to sealed hubs with a bolt through axle on the rear and QR on the front. Voodoo has even found room in the limited budget for Maxxis Ardent tyres too.
The only question that remains unanswered is related to the geometry. Halfords doesn’t list the geo for the Voodoo Bizango Carbon, and the Voodoo website features slightly different bikes to what’s available here in the UK.
We would have to swing a leg over the Voodoo Bizango Carbon to tell you how it rides, but if any of you have ridden one or own one we would love to hear your thoughts about this budget carbon bike in the comments below.

This is the thread about it in the forums:

In the thread you will also find the geometry (1 degree slacker and chainstays 1cm shorter than the alu):

For me the bigger question is tyre clearance. Someone posted in the thread that a 2.3 minion would fit, but not much more. Would be a shame if it would not fit a regular 2.4 by going to that 425mm chainstays.
Rotors are 180 front and 160 rear.
There is internal routing for a dropper.
Front wheel is not quick release.
Won’t fit bigger tyres than 2.3″ on the rear.
