2020 Nukeproof Mega Full Line-Up + NEW Carbon Mega 290

Nukeproof Carbon Mega 29’er has been highly anticipated since the launch of the Mega 275c, and it’s finally here.

My precious…

As it happens, there wasn’t even going to be one. That was until Sam Hill wanted to make the switch to try racing the Mega 290. Sam spent time working with engineers and designers testing the 290, and made a debut podium in Val Di Fassa, going on to take the 2019 World Enduro Series Title on the final stage of the season; an unprecedented title hat trick in the men’s elite class.

Sam Hill’s Carbon Mega 290c Race Bike

The all new Mega 290c & 290 Alloy frames feature a reworked suspension kinematic with an increase in rear travel to 160mm. The suspension kinematic has been reworked to improve the small bump sensitivity, increase mid stroke support for more predictable cornering/pumping and more end stroke progression to really inspire confidence through the roughest terrain.

This paired a slacker head and steeper seat tube angle creates a true “monster truck” of a bike, ultimately fast in the rough, but crucially balanced to be predictable and confidence inspiring under heavy braking and cornering in all conditions.

For 2020 the Mega 275 aluminium and 275c almost remain the same as in 2019, however they are now offered in a new size; Medium-Large. This offers riders an option with slightly longer reach and effective top tube measurement to ensure there is the perfect size for everyone. To improve quality all 275 & 290 frames now come fitted with branded ‘Enduro Bearings’ to ensure peace of mind, longevity and performance.

12-speed throughout the range.

All specifications have been revised to offer riders the latest products on the market. Every Mega is now 12-speed from either Shimano or SRAM. Stopping power is from powerful 4-pot brakes on all models too.

Amanda Wishart

Singletrack Art Director

When Amanda arrived at Singletrack she had only been riding for a couple of years, but having already ticked off a healthy list of uplifts and races including Megavalanche, we didn’t see any problems with her keeping up. Previously serving 11 years in a publishing house, she was keen to continue her art and design career without being tied to a desk, and has progressed as both a rider and a designer from all the fresh air Calderdale offers.

She began mountain biking to keep herself occupied out of snowboard season, but bikes have since taken over as the preferred sport. It’s not a hobby - it’s a lifestyle, and the impact riding has had on Amanda’s life is more than just how she chooses to spend her weekends. Relocating to Calderdale, giving up driving, being more economically aware are all either directly or loosely related to the sport and the future of it.

Her love of bikes isn’t for the adrenalin rush, the exercise, achieving goals or even the travelling, it’s mostly about the people she meets along the way. She’s our in-house tree hugger and is interested in any earth positive products and vegan trail snacks.
