On Friday 18th December, Singletrack Legend Martyn Ashton posted on his Facebook page that he was selling his Colnago road bike – the one that he, Danny MacAskill and Chris Akrigg used in the film Road Bike Party 2. The sale was in order to raise the funds he needs to pay for vital rehabilitation services and equipment in January. The response he got was extraordinary.
In response he was encouraged to not sell his bike and instead set up a crowdfunding campaign to raise the cash he needs, which he did.
Martyn set a target of £7000 on his campaign, which launched on Saturday afternoon. After just three hours that target had been smashed as the total flew past £14,000.
“My fantastic friends on Facebook really, really want me to keep the bike, but still be able to plan my rehab and physio in 2016. The general conscensus was I should set this page up instead. So here it is guys ;-)”, posted Martyn on his Go Fund Me page.
