Office chair technology for the masses
As production tooling is finalised, RST’s new dropper post should be available the end of the (2015) calendar year- and it will come with a very pleasing price tag. Set to be one of the least expensive offerings from a major brand, the Elev8 should retail in the neighborhood of $250 (£TBC), 30-50% less than many competitors.
Not unlike Cannondale’s Lefty forks, the Elev8 makes use of a square-sided forged upper, running on needle bearings to reduce stiction and improve service life. It’s a proven design that has been used some of the company’s forks for ages, only scaled to fit within the seatpost.
Internally- and externally-routed models will be offered, with the latter running the cable over a small enclosed pulley at the seat clamp and back down to the internal version’s mounting point. It’s tidy looking, doesn’t require a large cable loop, and takes advantage of as much of the internal version’s tooling as possible.

Eddie,
It’s a quote from the movie Fletch 😉

Never seen it. 🙁
Looks like they should all be made like that!
