Roc d’Azur is pretty much the last big european mtb event of the year, but also the first for a lot of manufacturers to show off 2015 bikes to a large (25,000 competitors) section of the riding public.
Dave’s been trawling the expo area to see what’s on show…
With a large focus on marathon and cross country racing it’s no surprise there’s a lot of fast whippet bikes here. First to grab out notice was the Trek Superfly which has fast and light written all over it.
Giant have the 27.5 Anthem Advanced SX weighing in at a claimed 11.70kg. It’s another marathon focused bike with 120mm/100mm travel and a 1×11 drivetrain. Price is €4399.
Need fat rims?
Ibis have their 741 carbon wheels on display, we managed to grab a shot of the 29er version before they headed out on a ride.
With a 2.4 tyre on they’re looking pretty good for providing plenty of grip.
Even with a 2.3 there’s a decent tyre profile.
With the full face for enduro in 2015 debate raging, here’s one option Urge’s Archi -Enduro Veggie helmet.
We’re not sure about the red/orange finish on the Intense Carbine 29.
Yeti owners can rejoice in the news that there’s a colour coordinated helmet and sunnies combo available from POC.
The Mondraker Crafty is looking good though.
For rider’s looking for a more enduro focussed bike there’s Orbea’s Rallon, which looks pretty sorted and ready to race.
Another helmet manufacturer worth keeping an eye on is Seven iDP. Here’s their full face offering.
Formula have their all mountain wheelset; the Volo on display. 24 spokes, scandium rims and a 60 points of engagement hub.
Everyone likes a track pump right? Lezyne have some great offerings with easy to read pressure gauges
And a solid looking shop shock pump too.
Skyde bikes are going for the all the colours plus graffiti option.
We really like the look of Prism packs. Well made, well thought out and feel tough wearing.
Santana have a mountain tandem on display with some serious gusseting up front.
There’s also a very neat belt drive and hub geared model.
More fast and light bikes? How about Niner’s Jet 9 RDO.
Diamondback Mission Pro
The German built Open Cycles are now doing a Lauf fork kitted out 29er hardtail that we’re guessing weighs next to nothing.
And another enduro bike, this time the Pivot Mach 6 Carbon. DW Link, 160mm/155mm travel and available in a very subtle black and red stealth option.

That Seven helmet looks very familiar…. O’Neal, Uvex, 661… any clues on the price of the Seven version?

That Intense looks lovely… But I’m obscenely excited by that Desert Turquoise POC Trabec, even though they don’t fit my lumpy head. I must be ill.
