Your once a week dose of retail therapy from Singletrack’s Premier Dealers, stockists and advertisers.

Tuesday Treats gives you a quality serving of independent bike retailing and a chance to win big in this week’s prize draw.

This week, we introduce: EDS Bikes.

For our first, proper instalment of 2014 we are bringing you something rather fresh. Happy New Year and all that jazz while we’re at it.

EDS Bikes (that’s E. D. S. Bikes not a chap called Ed by the way), were recently featured in Singletrack Issue 86 where they showed our Jenn around a rather fresh November 40k, North York Moors loop. Owner Wayne Elliott turns from riding guide, to talking shop…

wayneWe are a specialist bike shop promoting Steel bikes, Titanium bikes, Singlespeed, Fixed gear, Fatbikes, Cyclocross & Bikepacking. We are a Cyclesheme & bike2work partner store, also offering maintenance courses & bike servicing run by our friendly and experienced Cytec qualified staff.

What got you started?

I started EDS bikes in 2012 when to be honest I was struggling to find bikes I liked in one place. What better excuse did I need? I have been riding and racing bikes all my life, growing up in Dalby Forest, the area is my home and mountain biking my passion. Simple.

What’s the riding like on your doorstep?

We are based in Snainton, Scarborough, North Yorkshire. Trail hunters will be well aware of the popular Dalby Forest trail centre and associated local trails. They are only five minutes away from us, with link access to the trails direct from our shop, so we are very well served for local riding. We’re pretty near the coast too which is ideal for the fatbike generation…

coastWhich product/brand does every staff member have on their bike?

Component wise you can’t go wrong with Conti or Schwalbe tyres, Raceface, Chris King and Hope where bearings are concerned, Renthal Bars, SDG saddles and posts, E-thirteen and Evoc packs and accessories. Sorted.

We are also rather partial to Raceface & Showers Pass clothing offerings. We have become the only bike shop in the UK to stock the Norrona cycle range with full access to their mountain & ski gear too.

What’s the deal with custom builds?

We are custom build specialists (our Singletrack reader offer is very much geared to that!)  We stock the very finest of brands and work very closely with Cotic, Singular, Stanton and Forme.  We are also specialists in the US based Surly, Salsa, Jones and Banshee brands.

We also know what we are doing when it comes to guiding you around suitable trail destinations.

Tell us a little something, no one knows?

We love a bit of Roller Racing! Two participants battle it out on a pair of custom-built rollers connected to a huge dial, with split-second-digital timing over a simulated 500m distance at speeds in excess of 50 mph. It needs to be experienced to be believed.

Lastly, remind us. What do Singletrack Premier Subscribers get from you guys?

(Frames from Cotic, Singular, Stanton, Identti, Surly, Salsa, Jones and Banshee).
