Santa says skive off, get stoked and watch some movies.
It’s another helping of Midweek Mini Movies, so open your eyes and visualise.
Rad Santa
We all know what Santa really wants for Christmas. Have a happy and safe holiday, from the team at Rocky Mountain.
Our Process: The Lunch Ride
Don’t call us between 11:30 and 1:00. We won’t be here. Every day, weather permitting, we shut our doors, turn on the answering machine and head out for a ride at lunch. With the headquarters situated at the foothills of the Rocky Mountains, our local trails are just a few pedal stokes away. This daily opportunity to get out and ride is a large part of why many started working here, but at the same time, it allows us to test and refine new models, try out component spec, or just drop the boss on a climb. It is core to the process behind the bikes we design and manufacture.
Five 29 Cut Loose.
Some people still can’t quite get their heads around the idea of a 29inch wheel on a mountain bike. They think that 29inch wheels are for lightweight XC race bikes and not up to the task of taking on hard and technically demanding trails.
We would politely disagree.
To prove our point Stu and Drew from team CutMedia asked for Five 29 frames to test, eager to find out if they could get more speed from a bigger wheel. More used to bikes with smaller wheels, we asked them to build up the Five 29 frames and to ride them as they would their regular Fives and see what they thought. It’s fair to say that it didn’t take too long to get them up to speed on 29, possibly more speed than ever before. What can we say? 29ers, the proof is in the riding…
Muckmedden’s Eliminator 2013
THE ELIMINATOR was a brand new grin-inducing MTB weekender where two challengers race side by side down a super-fun course on a big Muckin’ hill! Whether you’re a Downhiller, an XC Racer, a Weekend Warrior or a Dabbler, THE ELIMINATOR weekender was the best MTB weekend of the summer – not the gnarliest, the most technical or the scariest, but the one that put the biggest smile on racers faces at the end of each run. THE ELIMINATOR had kids races, great tunes, a chilled out festival vibe, a local ale tent and free camping pitches. Check out muckmedden.co.uk for info on the 2014 races.

From 1995 to 1997, Adventure Cycling Association mapped the Great Divide Mountain Bike Route, the longest off-pavement mountain-bike route in the world spanning 2,774 miles from Canada to Mexico along the spine of the Rocky Mountains.
Now, Adventure Cycling and Co-Motion Cycles, in association with Revelate Designs, present highlights from the route and gear suggestions for cyclists wishing to tackle the entire Great Divide, or a short section.

It’s a place where cycle enthusiast, casual riders or anyone who fancies a good coffee and a bagel can gather.
Jay Boysen – Coastal Winter
An “Arctic Outflow Warning” was recently issued for coastal British Columbia. Which coincidentally left sunny skies over Howe Sound for a few days, giving ample opportunity to catch the ferry to Bowen Island and shoot some dry and dusty trails.
This is not the first time I’ve met Jay at the ferry and proceeded to spend a day in the woods, but I had not experienced Bowen in such frigid conditions. Jay took us to some new zones he had spent time building over the last year. The hard work he puts into the trails he builds shows, and being an avid cyclist myself it was hard standing on the sidelines of the action. At least I had long time friend and photographer Keegan Pearson along for the chilly day ahead.
A Great Escape
-11C and headed out for a ride on the Pugs. I love how this bike always reminds me what riding is all about. I forget sometimes.
