When Contour suddenly shut its doors last August and subsequently entered receivership, there was a gasp of surprise from their customers and fans.  While there were some early quality issues under the Vhold R name and some riders preferred GoPro’s chest mount friendly form factor, the company’s Roam bullet camera line certainly had its fans- and no one likes to see outdoor companies go under.  Good news, then, from UK resellers Ultra Sport Europe:  the firm has been purchased and is re-launching under new leadership.  Better still, cameras will be back in stock around the end of this week.

“We are pleased to inform you that Contour has been purchased by Clarke Capital Partners and is in the process of relaunching the business under new leadership. As a result we believe that customers will benefit from the continued development of world-class cameras and accessories. We also look forward to supporting our retail partners with a dramatic improvement in marketing programs. This restructuring should be completed in the next few weeks and will result in a seasoned and focused leadership team intent on building the Contour brand and continuing to develop world-class cameras and accessories.”

Ultra Sport is currently taking orders for both the £360/$350 Contour+2 and the £170/$230 Contour ROAM2 at contourshop.com.  Availability between now and the new year is said to be limited, so anyone needing a camera before the holidays would do well to order earlier rather than later.  Going forward, look for new cameras and accessories from the reborn brand.
