Tuesday Treats, week 55, Rule 5 Bikes… it’s all about the 5, baby! Served up fresher than the moist dew of an early September morning, Paul Hambridge picks up the story…
Rule 5 Bikes was born from six years of working in the bike trade and forever starting conversations with “If this was my shop, I’d…”. I’ve explained it all in some detail over here but in short, we are a bike shop owned by cyclists – working for cyclists.
We offer a repair and servicing shop based in Brighton and are proud to be kicking off trading working with local brands Kinesis UK and Morvelo Apparel on the retail side. Our workshop and related services are also ready for action.
We will be offering sales of Kinesis bikes on a bespoke ordering system. Customers can demo the bike and then decide what they want from there. Kinesis offers the bikes as complete builds but we can offer discounted upgrade packages, so that customers can get something a little more special.
What’s your current best-selling/hottest product?
The hottest products for us at the moment are the Kinesis FF29 and we are keen to get our hands on the Sync Ti (reviewed in issue 84 of Singletrack, out 5th September! – Ed.) and some of the componentry Kinesis offers. We have recently had a preview of the Morvelo Autumn/Winter range which all looks bloody lovely.
Which product/brand does every staff member have on their bike?
As you’d expect Kinesis and Morvelo feature quite highly, but what more needs to be said about Fizik saddles? A brand we are pleased to be able to offer these on a demo basis.
What about demo bikes? Don’t forget custom builds!
Our demo fleet has just arrived and in the process of building these we have added our upgrade packages to show what we can offer. The FF29 with Kinesis Maxlight IX wheelset, Shimano XT Trail brakes and Thomson finishing kit has been quite a highlight.
Our demo bikes are available from the whole Kinesis range and at a price of £50 per day – refundable on purchase of a bike. All Kinesis bikes are offered with lifetime free servicing, excluding parts.
Tell us something about your shop/staff that no-one knows…
We are closet road riders here. One of our aims is to get some of the Singletrack readers on the road, or at least on cyclo-cross bikes!
Is there a forthcoming event or regular shop ride you think our readers should know about?
Saturday 31 August is our official Grand Opening Party. We’ve teamed up with local legends The Brighton Sausage Company who will be providing second to none sausage rolls. Local beer heroes Darkstar Brewing Co. will be providing refreshments. There’ll be a raffle and other fun and games, so there’s something for everyone. We are also getting stuck in on Twitter too.
