A new mountain bike festival in memory of Jaymie Mart; Jayfest is to be held 14 -16th June in Innerleithen…
On the 14-16th June 2013 the beautiful Scottish Borders town of Innerleithen is set to host Jayfest, an exciting, vibrant and genuinely unique new mountain biking festival in memory of former Scottish mountain bike champion Jaymie Mart who died last year.
Jayfest will serve up an invigorating combination of events for both spectators and downhill mountain bikers of all ages and abilities, with coaching sessions for kids, women, new riders and more experienced riders looking to improve-with help on hand from top world class coaches Tracy Moseley, Ben Cathro (Sick Skills), Helen Gaskill, Emma Guy, Tracy Brunger and Andy Weir of Tweed Valley based Ridelines.
Although the festival will centre around the Jaymie Mart memorial race on the Sunday, the weekend will also feature a kids race on the Saturday along with women only coaching sessions on Friday from Diva Descent. You’ll also find ‘The Marketplace’ – a mini village within the arena where local and national traders sell the finest foods and artistic products.
There will be tech support on hand, a chill out teepee, kids entertainment, pump track, and nutrition and well being booth. Late on Saturday afternoon a world record attempt at the longest mountain bike train will also take place, where anyone with a mountain bike is encouraged to join in. The festival is a celebration of the life of Jaymie Mart and aims to raise funds for the Jaymie Mart Foundation to fund young riders starting out.
