The Bristol Bikefest 2013

by 0

The Bristol Bikefest is back again, after being an integral part of the UK biking calendar since its inception in 2001. This year’s event will be held in the second week of June, with the all-weather Ashton Court course, but a new home.

Because of difficult weather conditions the last two years, this year’s event venue will be located at the Bristol Cathedral Choir School, just on the edge of the course, and will also see, among other things, an improvement of shower and toilet facilities.

Getting muddy is part of the game

The course is 9.1km long with approximately 155 metres of climbing per lap. The fastet team lap dates back to the 8hr Octoberfest race in 2011, when Torq Team completed it in 23min 50sec.

Three different events will be held: The classic event on Saturday is all about racing the course as often as possible within 12 hours. In addition, a 6hr and a 3hr novice event take place on Sunday.

Here’s a short preview on what to expect (don’t worry about the road racing in the video though, that’s the Bristol Belter).
