Morning, Tuesday Treats fans. Everything that’s great in the world of independent bike retailing, including the regular friendly prodding of our brilliant Premier Dealers and stockists is right here for your fancy, every week.
Those January blues are now awash with splatterings of snow and ice but never fear, a quality bit of retail therapy and a top prize draw are here to save the day.
This week, we introduce Rebound Suspension:
Rebound Suspension is our newest Premier Dealer based in Bolton, Lancashire and run by Jason Aldred; a mountain biker, for mountain bikers.
The shop provides servicing and repair of suspension forks, rear shocks, pivot bearings and dropper seat-posts, with on site Cytech mechanic for anything not suspension-related on your bike; a real one-stop-shop. You want a no-nonsense approach to save you money, keeping your mountain bike on the trails where it belongs? Jason talks us through the Rebound story or, as he quips, his ‘Little Shop of Hor … wich!’
‘Rebound Suspension grew from a shed hobby into a bike shop in just 12 months, encouraged by redundancy and the ultimate riding widow, who wanted all things bikey strictly off the premises, NOW!
Since then I have occupied an old petrol station in Horwich, Bolton, within sight of Rivington Pike (venue of the Commonwealth Games MTB 2002), set up a Facebook riding group with 350 members and crammed in a Cytech mechanic into the same tiny premises. With a dozen bike parking bays outside, the kettle is always on which is just as well as I have been paid in biscuits by more that one potless, passing, puncture-struck customer!’
What’s your current best-selling/hottest product?
Our best-selling/hottest product is by far is the natty Mucky Nutz Fender Bender.
Which product/brand does every staff member have on their bike? Any recent custom builds?
Rebound Suspension rides a Santa Cruz Nomad, with Rockshox Lyrik 2 Step Air and a Fox RP23 Kashima Adaptive Logic rear shock. Tuned! This was also our last custom build, seeing it go from its factory yellow to a gloss black laquered powder coat with green decals & Hope Tech green hubs and brakes was a lovely project.
Tell us something about your staff that no one knows…
Apart from being a former petrol station with a floor safe, concreted-over petrol pumps in the car park, it then went on to be a dog grooming parlour! It took days to get rid of every last mutt hair before I could move in.
Is there a forthcoming event you think our readers should know about?
Shop rides are mostly ad-hoc and organised through the Facebook group Rivington MTB but you only have 200m of tarmac to endure, before a myriad of endless trails around Rivington Pike and Winter Hill open up. All this, set amongst the ruins of the playground of the former Lord Leverhulme.
What do Singletrack Premier Subscribers get from you guys?
