Tuesday Treats 10: DC Cycles

by singletrackjon 2

If you’ve been keeping an eye on the reviews section then you may have notice the rather nice looking Niner WFO Jon reviewed recently. That was lent to us by the lovely DC Cycles, based in the Lake District. They are also this week’s Tuesday Treat providers, so read on to learn a little more about them and get your chance to win a whole load of very seasonal Endura clothing..

DC Cycles

Joined at the hip?

dc Cycles was started in Jan 2010 and is owned and run by Dave and Charis. They started off in a little shop about the size of most peoples living rooms in Ulverston (check us out on www.dc-cycles.co.uk or www.facebook.com/dccyclesulverston) just outside the Lake District National Park and some great riding, doing repairs and servicing, accessories and some custom builds from Niner.

Backend of 2011, actually about this time of year Charis (izzi is her middle name) started a women’s specific cycling website Izzivelo (you can follow her on twitter @izzivelo or on facebook) We just recently moved into a new, six times bigger shop which is half a women’s izzivelo shop and half DC Cycles.

DC love their Niners - check out the custom polished bits...

We still do Niner bikes and have our demo fleet out on display with a much bigger range of accessories and clothing including the great range of women’s stuff from izzivelo. We’ve also moved Sim the part time guy up to full time recently and he’s starting to do a lot of our back end web gubbins and getting some workshop training in to boot!

What’s your current best selling/hottest product?

POC’s fantastic range of helmets have gone well but at this time of year its usually the winter bits that are picking up, Lezyne’s new lights are flying out the door at the moment as are waterproof shorts and overshoes from Endura

Which product/brand does every staff member have on their bike?

We’re all on 29ers, even Charis at 5’2″. We all run Fox forks and some goodies from the lovely guys at Hope…

What was the last custom build you did?

That was a nice little Niner EMD, built it a couple of weeks back and they haven’t been off it since by all accounts! Black in size small with Niner finishing kit, Fox fork, mid range Shimano and a bunch of Hope goodies

It's a pretty shop in a pretty place...

Tell us something about your shop/staff that no-one knows…

Charis (Izzi) is out this morning to model the upcoming winter gear for her website – shhh, it’s a secret until it all goes online! Dave, although he has a cat, is allergic to them and Sim whilst not allergic to cats once vomited inside his favorite howies T-shirt cleaning up after his two!

Is there a regular shop ride or forthcoming event you think our readership should know about?

Hmm, no shop ride but lots going on! The sale is finishing on www.izzivelo.com soon to make way for the new winter gear and pics of izzi herself modeling it, grab the offers whilst you can – it’s free UK postage. At this time of year we also run a closeout on our eBay shops dccyclesulverston and izzivelo – there’s usually some odd bargains!
