Midweek Mini Movies 112

We’ve got an epic selection of riding inspiration for you this time with videos from the wilds of Nepal, tandemers attacking Glencoe, a technological marvel plus Andi Wittman failing to contain his excitement about a priapic trail feature. Grab a brew and some biscuits – it’s time for Midweek Movies. Try not to choke on the crumbs…

We’ll kick off with the latest Strength in Numbers teaser trailer from Nepal. Andrew Shandro and Rene Wildhaber ride amid jaw-dropping landscapes and totally different cultures that have begun to share the thread of mountain biking…

While sometimes the technology we like to feature in Midweek Movies can be a touch questionable, this is the real deal. Swedish product designers Anna and Terese have created something amazing; the invisible helmet. The design, called Hövding, is basically a collar which contains an airbag and sensors that inflate it when a crash is detected – but the video does a better job of explaining the design and the people behind it. Yeah, it’s not really developed for the offroad market, but it’s got a massive amount of potential for road and commuting…

Woo! This Is Peaty Episode 4 is going to be landing soon! In the meantime here’s a bit of a teaser. Steve and Josh do some four wheeled drifting for a change, plus two wheeled action from the British Champs and Val d’Isere…

Everyone likes slomo don’t they? This video will be extra exciting for people that like suspension too. Is it just us or does the world and his brother have a RED camera now? Is someone knocking them out cheap on eBay?

Okay, you’ve waited long enough. Here’s Andi Wittman giving us a preview of the Suzuki Nine Knights slopestyle course, where nine of the world’s best slopestyle and dirt jump bikers will gather to battle it out. The highlight of the course? The “epic boner log” jump over a lake. It’s quite exciting – and we’re impressed that Andi can do a running commentary while sending some pretty chunky jumps…

That Gee Atherton chap is becoming a regular feature here isn’t he? Last week he was scooting around Coed y Brenin with sister Rachel and this week he’s been over to Moelfe in North Wales to show off the new sponsor ONE Industries’ bike kit. It’s looking sharp…

Here’s some downhill with regular folk – well, if you count people who want to ride down Glencoe on a tandem as regular folk. Looks like the trail building work is coming along nicely too…

Everyone needs a summer holiday but Tony from UK Bike Skills hasn’t been slacking while he’s been tanning, far from it. Although he’s been on holiday riding about Chamonix, he’s still managed to fit in his regular update on riding, kit and coaching – as well as the odd helicopter rescue.

We usually fill our final spot with some random BMX or skateboard madness, but this week we’ve gone for a bit climbing with Dom Bush’s documentary on the world of hard trad climbing in the Lakes. It’s beautifully shot but just watching it will make your fingertips ache and your arms get all pumpy…

If you’ve spotted anything you reckon should be here, then drop an email to newsdesk@singletrackworld.com. Thanks to everyone that sent in suggestions for this week, keep them coming…

Thanks for referring to me and my pals as “regular folk”. I’m off to tell my wife and family, they’ve always had doubts!

Interesting comparison between Andi’s safety kit and Gee, good compare and contrast stuff.

I wonder what the grade will be once the “Tree of Destiny” breaks off!
