Spring seems to be about sprung, which means it must be time for a fresh year of the Chain Reaction Cycles MTB Marathon Series. Here’s Mike with some more info:

“Temperatures are slowly starting to ride and there is no denying that spring is trying its best to break through. And with spring approaching the 1st round of the Chain Reaction Cycles MTB Marathon Series powered by Mercedes-Benz Vito Sport can’t be far away. In fact we are talking only four weeks from now.

Big days out in the hills

First event of the season – 07-8th Aril 2012, Builth Wells:

Traditionally (or at least for the last eight years) the EXPOSURE LIGHTS BIG NIGHT OUT night marathon will kick off the series in style on the 7th April at the Royal Welsh Showground in Builth Wells. The approx. 44km long night marathon (with approx. 1,350m of climbing) will be followed by the Sunday run Spring marathon will have a 28km long (with approx. 600m of climbing) Mini Marathon – ideal for beginners and families, a 55km (with approx. 1,400m of climbing) half marathon or the 70km (with approx. 2,100m of climbing) long distance available so that every rider can find the right distance for the day.

For 2012 John Lloyd has chosen a route to surpass all routes! With his knowledge and experience he has chosen 3 courses designed to suit all abilities. Taking you up through Fforest Fields, Little Hill, Red Hill and Glascwm Hill, before returning via Llanbedr and Aberedw Hill. This route will show you the best of the single-track to be ridden in the area. Technical climbs and long sweeping descents will leave you tired but exhilarated, with over half the route being on single and dual tracks into the wilds of unspoilt Radnorshire, with its stunning views, this is a ride not to be missed.

Riders who are going for the weekend double don’t need to worry about doing the same course twice as John Lloyd has thrown in lots of extra and different stuff in for Sunday. They will also get rewarded with a £15 discount on the overall price.

The event is based at the Royal Welsh Showground which has lots of hard standing, perfect access roads and facilities and is only a very short walk from the centre of Builth Wells. You can find the details on the EXPOSURE LIGHTS BIG NIGHT OUT night marathon and on the Spring marathon here.
