Chase Trails through to final of National Lottery Awards

by 6

Cannock based trail builders Chase Trails are through to the very final stage of the National Lottery Awards in the ‘Best Sports Project’ category. After being voted through two stages, the overall winners are due to be picked live on BBC this Saturday, 5th November at 9.30pm.

They could be heroes, this Saturday...

Although Rob from Chase Trails is pessimistic about their chances of winning, he’d like to thank everyone that supported them:

“We have no great expectation of winning the overall title, [but] the project video will be shown and we hope to at least get a glimpse of the Chase Trails team as they sit and sip champagne.

“Thanks again for all your support over the last six months.”

Founded by local riders in 2003 with the aim of building and maintaining high quality, sustainable mountain bike trails on Cannock Chase they’ve worked in partnership with the Forestry Commission,  building 15 miles of mountain bike trails which they are continually working to maintain and improve. To date it is estimated that over 25,000 hours have been invested in the trails and that over 100,000 people have ridden the network of cycling trails.

Chase Trails rely on volunteers to build and maintain the trails. They hold trail building sessions every week and are always looking for new volunteers to come and get involved. Visit their blog for find out more about volunteer trail building.

Good luck guys (and girls, of course) you’vedonestirling work over the past few years and deserve it.

Anyone know how the final decision is made?

    Thats good news! Well done.

I know that the trails have a mixed opinion on here but if you don’t like them don’t ride them. I for one think they are great!

Could you make the mud a little cleaner though. My wife had to wash the washing machine after she washed my riding gear!

@The Pinkster – the final decision was down to a public vote, which closed at the end of September.

    Fingers crossed for Saturday!

Cheers Abbstastic, I wasn’t sure if there was an internal decision being made following the final public vote.

Let’s just hope that mine was counted!

It’s tonight everyone! Stick your telly boxes onto BBC1 at half 9!!!

Good luck to everyone @ Chasetrails, you really do deserve to win. We really enjoy to ride your trails.
