No one needs to see your pants! Fed up of flinging socks and pants around while trying to get her laptop out of her bag in meetings, cycle commuter Beate…
We’ve just been chatting to the nice folks at Fusion Breaks, who offer a couple of guided mountain bike weekends set up for single folk. It’s not a dating service, but it’s aimed at providing breaks for ‘sociable singles’ who want to go out exploring, but who’d rather do it in the company of others.
The first two Fusion Breaks’ ‘Singles Biking and Hiking Weekends’ take place at Easter (Friday 22nd April – Monday 25th April) in Arundel, West Sussex and on the Royal Bank Holiday Weekend (Friday 29th April – Monday 2nd May) in Llanwrtyd Wells, Mid Wales. Both weekends are offering all-inclusive three night packages including: good quality accommodation, three course evening meals, packed lunches and guiding for three days.
As Fusion Breaks puts it “The weekends aim to get a good mix of genders within the suggested age range of 25-45. The emphasis is not on dating, nor is it on advanced mountain biking, but on enjoying a great weekend with other like minded cyclists and walkers who want to socialise and have fun! “
On the Friday you are able to check in from 2pm, and welcome briefings/introductions will take place in the bar at approximately 7.30pm, followed by a three course evening meal with your group in the hotel. A hearty breakfast will be taken at the hotel on the following days before departing at approximately 10am with your group and guide, who will take you on the best local routes and make sure you stop for a picnic lunch together before returning to the hotel for tea and cakes in front of a cosy log fire at approximately 4pm. There will be a chance to socialise at the bar and later change out of your muddy baggies, ready for dinner at a local restaurant or in the hotel – allowing you plenty of time to get to know your fellow bikers and hikers throughout the weekend.
The weekend draws to a close at approximately 4pm on the Bank Holiday Monday, in time to return to real life
Prices depend on room type but start from £299 for the weekend. There is also an early bird discount of 10% if you book two months ahead, which takes the cost down to £269 if you book before the end of February.

I would never attempt to be disparaging of such a fine-sounding weekend break, and I know they aren’t aiming for a dating service, but I do wonder how they avoid it being a complete sausage-fest…
My wife isn’t into mountain biking but I like riding with others. I can’t see her being happy with me going on a “Mountain Biking Weekend for Singles”. It may not be a dating service but that’s what it sounds like 🙂
It’s definately not a dating service, it’s purely a coincidence that they used a picture of a really cute girl to advertise it
“Ow Mooooch?”
:-/
I can hear the sound of lonely male mountain bikers furiously hurrying to book this trip. 😉
The cynical side of me would think that this was a marketing ploy – but it is my dominant side.
from £299 to get your end away
Has Wayne Rooney taken up mountain biking, he may find it marginally cheaper than his current ‘hobby’
I’m sure they will be plenty of ‘exploring’ and testing of ‘endurance’….
I’ve booked I really hope it’s as good as it looks in the pictures.
I went on a few weekends like this when I was between relationships and actually they were good fun. I never “got lucky”, but made some good friends. What surprised me most is how many girls went along, amazingly it seems like ladies quite enjoy MTBing when you take away the context of a testerone driven mainly male riding group. Seems a bit expensive tho.
you could end up riding a full 24 hours if you get lucky.
Pretty cool service. I wonder how successful it’s been.
