Not A Typo…
The Brighton Big Bog
What a day. Sunshine, torrential showers, dry trails, soaking wet and slippy trails, close racing, smiles. The 2010 Brighton Big Dog had it all. Newcomers rubbed elbows with some of the nations finest riders for 6 hours round the famously tough and fun Stanmer Park course, made even trickier by the rain. Was there any moaning? Was there hell! Everyone got stuck in, both during the race itself and at the party in Brighton afterwards, non more so than Brighton local Ian Leitch (Independent Fabrications) who became the Big Dog of 2010 after a blinding ride to see off last years winner Yanto Barker (Pendragon/Le Col).
Full race report coming soon but in the meantime:

The organisers would like to say many thanks to all who came, saw and conquered not to mention the volunteers, marshalls and helpers that give this small group of local riders a chance to put on a good old fashioned fun bicycle race. Roll on 2011!

Blimey a report on the 2011 race already. You boys are ahead of the times !!
Here’s a report:
It was muddy, very, very muddy. The mud was even stickier than Eastnor Mud. The mud pulled up sticks and stones which even forced the chain off my singlespeed twice.
And at the end the shower block was closed due to an electrical fault, so I ended up washing in water scooped up from a big muddy puddle.
Cracking course though (when dry) and a great atmosphere.
“So I ended up washing in water scooped up from a big muddy puddle.”
Me too. And my bike 🙂
I cannot wait for next year; I will have the nuclear option 1.5 mud tyres in the back of the car, just in case. Maybe a roll of gaffer tape to keep some of the marshalls helpful advice at bay as well. 🙂
