Cycle is once again returning to London’s Earl’s Court this October and Singletrack will be there, with an exhibition space all to ourselves. We thinks it’s one of the best events of the year and the ideal place to get a first glimpse of the hottest goodies coming your way in 2010.

FGF 693: The bikes we don't own...
Latest Singletrack Videos

We’ll be taking a break from looming deadlines and making the trip south. We wouldn’t miss it for the world. So you can see us there, catching up with some of the faces that we’ve been missing for the past year and eyeing up some gear for the New Year’s wish list.

The organisers of the show have revealed a strong contingent of off-road companies among the host of bike brands on show in Earls Court, London 1.

The successful Tirol Mountain Bike test course is back again and promises to be even better than before to entice consumers down to the West London venue. Cycle 09 will be jam-packed with the biggest names on the market, along with some of the smaller independent companies, all of whom will be competing for your cash in 2010.

Who’s Who?

Following on from last year, the event organisers have dedicated a huge area of floor space to those of us from the muddy brigade. Already confirmed in the shows line-up and returning from last year are big name brands such as Scott, Specialized, Genesis and Cannondale. 2Stage, Cotic, Bionicon, Cube Bikes and Wiggle are just a small selection of the other brands who will be there demonstrating their brand new equipment.

If gear and apparel are a big factor in your mountain biking experience, Cycle 09 will provide an impressive array of clothing for the fashion sensitive off-roader. Better known for their mechanical equipment, Sepcialized and Mavic will have displays showing off their latest clothing lines to keep you looking your best, while dedicated clothing brands such as Endura and New Zealand’s Ground Effect will have their newest kit on display in the flesh, ready for your intense scrutiny.

What Else?

Should you become tired of the endless array of shiny new bike goodies (how dare you!), then we suggest you head over to the Triol Mountain Bike course, where major brands such as Scott, Specialiazed, Cannondale and Commencial will be waiting to let you sample their latest creations on an impressive selection of dirt and north shore structures.

For those of you finding the north shore structures a step too far, Kurt Exenberger, the Austrian National Cross Country Cycling Coach will be on hand to give one-to-one coaching sessions throughout the Cycle Show to help you improve your technique for that next mammoth session you have in mind.

For The Ladies

A new addition to this year’s show will be the Women’s Hour, a theme heavily aimed at the ladies out there in the biking world. With increasing levels of female participation in cycling, the event organisers are providing a series of ‘Women’s sessions’ to provide hands-on expert advice for female cyclists. These sessions will be hosted by a panel of experts, from sports stars to fashion insiders, who will be on hand to offer advice and answer questions from the ever-inquisitive female.

The Time Is Nigh..

As we approach the gloomy nights of Winter and the so-called summer comes to an end, Cycle is the perfect opportunity to catch up with old friends, to see some of the biggest names in the sport and to plan what upgrades your want to be hitting your favourite trails with over the next year.

The Show takes place at Earl’s Court between 9th and 11th October.

I have been a writer for nigh on 20 years, a photographer for 25 years and a mountain biker for 30 years. I have written countless magazine and website features and route guides for the UK mountain bike press, most notably for the esteemed and highly regarded Singletrackworld. Although I am a Lancastrian, I freely admit that West Yorkshire is my favourite place to ride. Rarely a week goes by without me riding and exploring the South Pennines.
