Blagged a day off work, so went out with a mate to hit peaslake, went over to winterfold area, and run the Evian trail, upon riding up to the top was confronted by a tree feller dude who said its all private ground and we shouldnt be riding there.

We were on our way over to BKB anyway to were totally polite (didnt want to queir the patch for anyone else).

    This actually private land????

It may well be. There are a few ROW in Winterfold but not many and looking at OS maps it’s shaded differently to the Hurtwood Area (which does allow access).

Parts of winterfold are private land but you can tell because the landowner hates mtbs and had fenced off everywhere that is not ROW.

There is a tree feller dude at the bottom of the trail that heads down the descent off greensands way, just past northern monkey -the trail that has 2 drop offs at the top and a log at the bottom. He is a very angry fella and best avoided. We thought it was funny to hammer into that trail once and not tell one of our mates about the drop offs. He swore loudly and when we got to the bottom the tree fella threatened to kill us all.

OP pretty much all the land there is private but a lot of it is classified open access, ie the landowner allows people to use it for recreation and with the advent of mtb that means us. Have never had any issues with Evian or any of the other trails “that side”
