Been looking and prices kind of seem to be around the same.

Between the contour hd and the go pro hd.

Will be using the cam for skiing and mainly freeride/downhill purposes.

Anyone got anything to say about either? both seem much of a muchness to me….

also best places / cheapest places to buy one?

Go Pro does so much more than the Contour, and its full water proof.

i had the v1 contour and although its really smart reliability was shocking. i second the gopro

I’ve had both and I prefer the Go Pro. You get terrible wind noise on recordings with the Contour due to the position of the microphone pin hole and no amount of stick on ‘baffling’ and heath robinson shielding could cure it and I hated it purely because of that.

Lots more moutning posibilities with the go pro, plus the protective housing, which you can replace, protects it from crash damage.

No issues with wind noise on my Contour, you just lower the gain on the microphone plus is has the added beneift of not making you lool like an utter knob if you mount it on your helmet which is where I imagine most would. Still, your money and your choice; they are probably just as good/bad as each other.

on your PC, and you can buy the Waterproof housing for £ 26.99p on Amarzon

I’ve just got a GoPro HD – really impressed so far – there’s just so many mounting options and the chest mount (not included) footage looks really ‘immersive’. Took a while but was cheap from pinkbike.

I would strongly recommend the Go Pro HD. Other than the lack of viewfinder, which can be a bit of a issue until you get the hang of sussing out what’s in frame and what’s not, they are very versatile, fully waterproof and excellent quality. You can use them for more than just the usual point-of-view shots. I’ve some examples on Youtube.

yup, how much was it on pinkbike?

i found i can get a hd contour for £190 del.

go pro is alot more than that ive found.
