To all the racers what would be your ideal event? Type of event, length of course, duration of race. anything else you can think of.

A friend has access to a sizeable country park and is thinking of putting on a race. He comes from the motorbike enduro world, he wants to put an event on that would appeal to riders.

The facilities to get monsterously drunk and rowdy the night before, thus upsetting the closet roadies who spend the evening loading up on pasta then going to bed at 9.30

    Victory.

Personally I prefer enduro type events that way it's not just about winning it's about finishing and a personal challenge.

Longish course. I don't mind doing laps but about 3 or 4 as a maximum. That way you can easily provide feed stations as well.

    Camping.

Bike porn and shops, get some people in to sell stuff on stands.

12hour enduro – with teams of 4/solo/pairs. I find these the most enjoyable, as you really can go 'all out' on your laps knowing you'll soon recover for the next.

Course time ideally around 40 – 50minutes, starting with as long a climb as possible so everyone is wittled down on the first lap. Hard to describe what kind of course I'd want as they all differ significantly, but this years course at 24-12 in Plymouth was amongst the best I've ever raced on.

No running at the start, I don't train to run, I train to race a bike! So a start loop to avoid traffic would be good.

Showers – If an enduro event didn't have showers, it's unlikely I'd do it. Travelling hundreds of miles and then racing, it would be cruel not to have these on site, entry fee's more than cover the cost of having event showers anyway.

    Midday start – Midnight finish.

Can I ask, is this country park you speak of in Derbyshire? Heard rumours a while back thats all.

Only ever done the Kirroughtree event and that is ace imo.

Keep it simple imo and appeal to everyone not just the "elite". There are more beginners and intermediate riders than "racers"

You try organising one a see ❗

This years Bonty 24/12 would be hard to beat.

Don't forget to plan it on a dry weekend 😉 😆

10UTB is good, maybe have as challenging a course as you can, an event needs to have a distinct feature.

    we have:
3x 10 under the ben/ kirroughtree/ moray, these are easy, summer enduros.
the strathpuffer. 24 hours in the north of scotland. in the middle of winter.
    mayhem,
    relentless 24.

    lots of others.

anyway, what im trying to say is that although these courses are all very good, the event organising is good etc etc. you need to find a gap, something undone.

i can only think of a few ways of doing this. course design: a brilliantly technical course. money incentive: attract pro's.
