  • Using HDTV as monitor – scaling to less than full screen?

I’m planning a new study that will need both a computer monitor for desk-based viewing and a TV for sofa based viewing (so think 40 inch-ish). I’m aware of the requirement for good pixel density but does anyone know if it’s possible to configure either the PC (Windows via HDMI) or the TV to use only a section of overall TV screen such that it can be used more closely from a desk and maybe scale to use only 1/4 of the overall screen? I’d intend mounting it on a vertically sliding mount such that it could be used at desk level and higher up on the wall.

Or any other alternatives that mean I don’t need two panels?

    laptop + tv.
why do you want to raise the tv up on the wall?
more comfy at eye level on what you’re sitting on.
