Thinking of doing this for the first time in September, but which bike…

    Specialized Crosstrail hybrid hardtail.
    Nukeproof Mega Am full sus.
    GT Aggressor hardtail.

Who’s done before, what bike of the above 3 would you use?

Take the hardtail. It’s too rocky for the hybrid and the FS would be overkill.

I’ve just been and done the first section to Rhayader on a 29er carbon hardtail with a carbon seatpost and is a comfy ride normally but I was wishing I had a bit of extra cushion especially as I was carrying a backpack. I wouldn’t want to do it on a all mountain sus rig but a 100/120mm xc full sus would be good. A suspension seatpost would help but if that isn’t possible I will definitely be wearing 2 pairs of padded shorts next time.

I did it on a 29er Inbred with carbon fork. With hindsight, I would have been better on my hardtail. Enjoy it – it’s a beautiful ride.
