The Tour Divide starts tomorrow from Banff and the clock does not stop until you get to Mexico, approx 2700 miles away. Most of the route is off-road using old logging trails and jeep tracks.
You carry your sleep kit, find your own food and drink along the way and can only purchase from commercial organisations – no having your crew in an RV, handing out gels and fixing your bike.

Its very different to the South Downs Way (no matter how many times you ride between Winchester and Eastbourne)

Mike Hall did just under 200 miles / day.

You can watch the fun unfold in what is billed as the toughest mountain bike race in the world on the Trackleaders site here:-

Riders and rigs look like this.

Ops, broken link. Check out tour divide in Google for loads of stunning Rocky Mountain pics and 150 riders battling their way over them.

I think it’d be awesome to do. For me, it wouldn’t be the race though. I’d rather travel a little slower. However, I reckon it has your name all over it!

I’ll bump it up. Most of the interesting analysis will be over on Bikepacking.net anyway.

    Oops, hadn’t spottted that thread.
I’ll be quiet and watch it unfold on Bikepacking and Mtbcast.
And go and ride the Banff-Eureka part in September.
