[#8274276]

Had a search and couldn't see that this had been mentioned- it now looks like you can send PMs through a user's profile page. Which is awfully useful if you, for example, don't want your email address up, or if you want to message someone selling something who hasn't put their email up.

Of course, it could be that despite the messages moving into the 21st century the search function has not and I've missed it ๐Ÿ˜‰

I mentioned it in the "oh lawd the forum has changed and I don't like it" thread but I couldn't be bothered to start a new thread!

I, like most sensible people, don't read the whining thread so I'd only just noticed it. I thought other sensible people might like to know about it!

Do you get an email notification of a new message?

If you've told them your email you do. It's a bit of a pain getting to your messages on mobile though.

Actually there's no direct link to your messages in the litte drop down either.

Boooo.

Can't wait for the first example of angrily exchanged pm's getting posted in a thread.

Maybe someone could send themselves a message from their alternate account and let us know if it works?

There is when you are in your profile page - although at that point its a little pointless as you have a tab for messages on screen already.

No they can't.

It's rough around the edges and needs some styling but we thought we'd turn it on now and let you have a play over the weekend.

INB4 people complain they are getting abusive messages.

Edit:

No they can't.

That's what I'd say as well ๐Ÿ˜€

This was the first I'd heard of it!

Very, very handy from a Moderator perspective. Cheers Mark.

Just need the ability to reply directly to a post rather than inline a number of post later.
Is the options to select who can see your information (email, website etc) new as well?

How do you know you've got a message? Is it a notification on the forum or do you get an email or something?

Its a channel of communication some forum users might not want

Thank you for your kind New Year message, SBob. You can't buy beans in France so I generally smell of garlic, Roquefort, bad teeth and B.O.. 8)

Edit: messages arrive in the same e-mail account as insulting e-mails from STW mods, Cougar. ๐Ÿ˜
