so theyre now bolt-through maxle, 140mm and weigh 1.7kg and seem like a nice choice and cheaper than a 15mm bolt-through talas. what i would like to know (and can’t see from searching google)is:

    1) are they all air forks or is there a coil version?
    2) is it basically a pike on a diet?
    3) will it be plush as a talas? (linear air spring)

there isn’t that much around in the way of reviews at the moment

1 – all air, pike are coil

    2 – yep

    3 – 🙄 maybe maybe not

so air pike users out there, do you notice a ramp-up at the end of your travel?

Be awre that they’re not ALL 20mm axle as standard: they’re still available with QR lowers, with the 20mms being a touch more expensive. Make sure you don’t get the prices/specs mixed-up as I did…

so if the rev is the same as an air pike then whats the air pike like?

They dont do an air pike anymore, just a coil one.

They are not the same as an air pike. Less weight seems to equal less stiff in this case. Even around the Surrey Hills I could tell they were less stiff.

cheers heihei i guess the only way to get a bombproof fork is to man up and take the extra weight. pikes seem well respected

I’ve got the new maxle Rev. It’s difficult to judge performance after one ride – and I can’t compare it to an air Pike because I’ve never ridden one – but I wouldn’t really say it was a flexy fork in any way.

First impressions are that it’s like a QR Rev (oddly) but much better tracking. Noticeably less deflection at speed and makes it much easier to place the front wheel on slow technical bits.

all i want to know is this: is it plush? (and does the rebound work)
