Most of my mates have managed to outgrow numerous phones. Both of my house mates are using iPhone 3’s, and one of them said his willy is waggling and he feels he’ll be on an iPhone 4 in the next month or two.

I’ve only outgrown a motorola and a nokia 3310. Currently using another basic nokia but dont have the faintest clue when I’ll outgrow it.

Do you use facebook, play games, travel on public transport? Do you sometimes get lost in the city, or want to look up an address when you’re out and about? If you do then a smart phone might be useful…

Last year I did a bit of exploring on my bike, drove out into the sticks, parked my car and placed a flag in the iPhone map to indicate where I parked it. Then jumped on my bike and cycled about all over the place without thinking about where I was going or how I would get back. Then I took out the phone, checked which direction my car was and pootled back.

You’ve managed with a basic phone this far so I’m sure you’ll be happy for a little while longer…although I bet you were happy before you had a mobile phone at all – I know I was!

Only kidding, I held off buying a smartphone until recently but loving it now, apart from battery life.

I think that playing with all this new technology, getting excited about apps etc is far from a sign of maturity.

Fair enough, enjoy spending the £500 on something other than a shiny phone. Perhaps use it to go on a nice holiday, or buy a new bike or enter some races.

Now I’m a little scared…are you some kind of robot or supernatural being? No matter how much I concentrate I haven’t yet been able to update facebook using only my mind. I find I always have to resort to using a computer or some other device connected to the internet.

I concentrate and use only my mind to choose not to update facebook when I dont need to.

A smartphone is better than a paper map at navigating your way around a strange city to find shops and businesses. Because shops are usually not on paper maps.

The whole point of a smartphone is to have a portable porntube in your pocket. Google maps is also good when you can’t find the red light district while on business trips.

I rely on old school wireless technology – a small pocket diary.

Plus a cheapo Nokia 1661 on PAYG for calling my mum, once a week.

i dont know about growing out of phones. sometimes i get to the end of my contract and get an upgrade. last time i think i got 50% off next years contract as i didnt want a new phone.

i can’t tell if you’re being serious or not? And I’m not entirely right, if you’ve a 32Gb iphone it’s cost you £600… either up-front or hidden in the contract cost.
