    hi
I’m thinking of getting a xo rear mech , JE JAMES have them on offer but I’ve noticed that they are of the type 2 variety not the current 2.1 , this makes me wonder if the type 2 had problems so they solved it and renamed 2.1 ,
Any advice on this would be appreciated , thanks

The current one is 3 (Eagle); the type 2 clutch could loosen up, but at the same time you were able to open it up, clean, tighten, whatever.
They ‘fixed’ that by jamming a pin through the threads in the later iterations.

Apart than it’s probably older than 2014 so stock clearance stuff that should be on a decent discount 😉

From a quick look type 2 (I ran one in x9) was a PTFE type bush that you could tighten, 2.1 became a roller bearing.
Ran for 2 years, still 100% after that (yes there was pivot play but it still shifted cleanly and solidly and the clutch worked well) still in the spares box
