    Having searched the net to get some info/pics about tyre clearance on my Specialized Roubaix disc (2014) I couldn’t find a definitive answer. I was looking to see if cross tyres would fit with enough clearance.

    I then tried some schwalbe 35mm cross tyres and they only just fitted the front, but with a bit of rub it was obvious they wouldn’t work as soon as I picked up any muck.

    The next option was to look at some Schwalbe CX Pro 30mm tyres and I’m pleased to report that these do in fact fit – see the pics for clearance

    Just thought I post these up to save others from a fruitless seach for info on this topic……

    Take care – a muddy tyre will slice though a carbon stay like a knife through butter.

    Yep, good point, thanks

    Reckon I’ll heli tape it before taking it out 🙂

    You already had the bike, the info you needed was real tyre width, nothing to do with your frame. I’d be surprised if such info wasn’t online.

    I’m afraid my searches didn’t give the answer (hopefully future searches from others will pick up this post). One post said 35’s were fine, others said 28 was the max – all a bit contradictory.

    And I guess no one posts actual tyre width as it differs depending on the rim it sits on…

    The point is you can’t rely on the nominal width the tyre is labeled width. You can measure your own frame. The rim makes only a small difference.

    True, so out of curiosity I’ve just measured them with a digital vernier…

    width = 30.04mm now that’s not bad for a stated 30mm tyre

    Also height above the rim would be important for clearance – that’s coming out at 31.6mm

    It looks very tight though. Why are you trying to fit cyclocross tyres? Would a muddy tyre not block on such a tight gap, or is it not as tight as the photos seem to suggest?
