me and the good lady have been away for a weeks touring, staying in hostels.
we visited the Yorkshire dales, the lake district and the north pennines.
in 200 miles of cycling we did not have 1 altercation with any other vehicle or person. not a beeped horn, or a shout from a window in the whole week.
we followed some of the national cycle routes, a few quiet byways, the ace bridleway up the side of windermere, and the busy road from Grasmere to the turn off for thirlmere. it was all hassle free.
highlights of the week were my wife cleaning the climb out of slaidburn up to cross of greets, and the 3 hours rain we had on the whole trip.

    I love cycling………… 8)

It’s lovely when it’s like this, a nice feeling of harmony. I had a similar experience for a whole week of long rides, screaming down hills (sometimes overtaking cars, rather naughtily) and not an angry moment from anyone. It was France though.
