  • Small split/tear in the sidewall of a high roller….

Just got back from a ride in the lakes, and on cleaning my bike discovered a 1cm (approx) tear/split in the sidewall of my rear tyre (maxxis high roller,60a,single ply,2.35"). You can see the tube, and it is poking through slightly. Can this be repaired/patched somehow, or should i get a new tyre?

    Cheers

Repair would be a bodge in an emergency .New tyre time really.

If the split is less than 1cm you can just patch it up and keep using it.

You should be able to get a patch from somewhere, or just use a punture reapair one.

I've done the same 6 months ago and ride on the tyre 2-4 times a week.

Just keep an eye on it. If the split gets bigger replace.

I've gaffered (use a couple layers) the inside of tyres before, and then ran them 6 months with no issues. Give it a go.

patch the inside, superglue the outside – works fine, even when tubeless

I've got a good few months of use out of Park Tool tyre boots before. They're supposed to be emergency use only tho…
