I’ve got an old frame that I’m putting cable brakes on and there are 2 open [at each end and along upper length] cable guides on the top tube. They are bigger than the outer diameter of the brake cable outer. I’m sure I’ve seen short thin walled tubes fitted over cable and into this type of guide.
I’ve tried to find them but don’t know what they are called? Any ideas where I can buy some from.
Also, I’m assuming as these guides are open ended that I run the cable outer the full length of the cable run – or are there adaptors which fit in these guides that allow short runs of the outer at the lever and calliper ends and bare inner along the top tube.

Brake Cables are broadly similar to gear cables in how you set them up.

You are probably after ferrules to go over the end of the cut cable outer.
