Is it time to shut down Government and start again
and have politics with people working for you
for your intrests and the country we live in rather
    Than Bastards screwing our pockets.

Think we need another Oliver Cromwell to kick this Scum Out

    Whats your view

A general election would do for a start.

No you need a peoples election on the views of the running of the country
and a vote of no confidance of what is happening to our money and affairs.
Getting another party in is not going to do nothing has all in some way
    are Guilty.

better idea would be a coordinated freedom of information request overload. Twenty million requests ought to do it. By law, government offices have to drop everything else and answer FOIs first.

it's not all the politicians, it's to do with the civil servants, they stay there no matter who's 'in power'

I've reached the stage where I'd happily try disbanding all parties (and all those related to them) and having in a (small) managment team who were on a 30 year plan.

So what do you suggest instead Grantway?

I suggest you learn to spell and punctuate as your first step then look at what the government does.

    Im with you 100% Gusamc
Surely this cant go on anymore I dont know anyone who has
confidance with anyone attached to todays politicians.
Its about time State stepped in and let Right Be Done.

Fine rhetoric, but I'm not too sure what it means in reality. Clearly you've got the makings of a great politician! 🙂

Are you espousing an unelected dictatorship? Which style would sir like?

    Military, fascist or socialist?

Myself I would prefer a real democracy rather than the pseudo democracy we have

    bassspine

read Piers Anthony Bio of a Space Tyrant (he's generally a crap writer) for a justification of dictatorship that takes some arguing with.

Benign dictatorship is quite clearly a superior form of government. The trouble is finding a benign dictator.

I agree TJ but until the "politicians" stop worshiping at the alter of "the media" and trying to appease their god with soundbites and spin then we'll never get more than the three parties vying over the percieved centre ground that we have now. There is also the problem that no government will commit to longer than a 4 year plan as they are shit scared of being voted out mid-plan and the other lot getting the credit for completing it. Someone suggested disbanding the main parties and starting from scratch. I'd go along with that. The current bunch are only interested in getting their party to power and keeping it there. Anyone who thinks that they have the interest of the general public at heart is sadly deluded. Witness the contempt and lack of remorse over the expenses debacle.

    They're all sh#t.

Too obsessed with spin, unwilling to take responsibility for their actions, too detached from the public they're supposed to serve and almost entirely thoroughly dishonest to boot.

Regardless of whether they're Red, Blue, Yellow or Green.

Sorry, but I find each and every man and woman involved in politics offensive.

It would be if I were the dictator! I'd start off by shooting a few folk "pour encourage les autres" ……………..

Does anyone really think their vote counts a damn when the political parties continue to be funded by "interested parties?"

Its taken a long time for everyone over the age of 18 to get the vote in this country, but it still feels farcical because the type of groups that were pulling the strings before they allowed the plebs to vote are still pulling the strings today.

About ten years ago , I bounced a few Emails with an old schoolbuddy . Politics and stuff .
I ended up started a political party .
    oooo.Get me .
It was called ' The common Sense Party ' . We ( I ) , had loads of dead good ' common sense ideas .
    You'd have loved it .
However , I was young at the time , and therefore , wrong.

    GR8 LOL Etc Etc….

Oliver Cromwell would shut down this site without any hesitation……….no doubt about.

………unless it's another 'Oliver Cromwell' which I haven't heard of.

LOL I was not talking about the whole entirety of Oliver Cromwell
But some one as strong to go in and sort it out.
State needs to re take control for the faith in politics and the Country
and employ people to give a True Democracy for everyone.

Certainly No Military,Socalist or Fascist party But one that if found
doing such wrong be prosecuted has a Common Person.

Keep the politicians but change the way laws are voted in or out
Let them decide general taxation & spending etc. at the beginning of each year but leave the rest to the public

Now we have the technology to make it easy
Pick a million people each year at random from the electoral register & oblige them to vote every week on whatever is going through the house
all bills etc. would need to be summarised into no more than 500 words for consideration.

    😀

    grantway

    Dont know about that

The only thing worse than allowing politicians to decide taxation is to allow a QUANGO to do it IMHO.

I still stand by my comments and would go so far as to say I prefer having politicians living in morbid fear of the electorate, not the other way around.

20 years back people moaned that Americans only had diffferent shades of liberal capitalism to vote for. Now you've got the same. I still have the the opportunity to vote against socialism.

A dictatorship is a brilliant idea. However it fails on the "Leader in morbid fear of being shunted into the poor house if he/she upsets enough folk" rule.

Dictators tend to be of the Hitler/Mugabe/Stalin ilk.

However, give me the keys to No 10 and I'll prove you all wrong.

Arthur C Clarke had a great idea. An annual lottery takes place and the one ticket picked gets to run the country for 12 months. Better to pick someone dragged kicking and screaming into office than have the idiot dragged kicking and screaming out of it.

Did Oliver Cromwell also get sacked by his own party for being crap and screwing up so badly ?

……this Cromwell geezer is turning out to be somebody completely different to the person I thought he was 😕

No, and neither did Facha die of malaria in 1984.

Sorry aracer, I had assumed that you were referring to simular roles as political leaders.

    ……… I don't know why.

What were you referring to ? 😕

I have no idea what you're talking/complaining about Ernie. I was simply pointing out that Facha had rather more time as a political leader to get it wrong than Cromwell did.

TJ can we start with those who do not know their Voltaire?

Basspine, the civil servants that i've met temper the extreme of their political masters exactly because they have to be there when the "idiot" is voted out and the new dictact lasts longer than its originator.
