Inbred here Rizla - those charts don't show up too well on my laptop.

I'm thinking garish (kawasaki) green, lilac/lavender, matt black or battleship grey

I've got a matt black and it looks good, also thought about battleship gray or olive but wanted to move away from stealth.

then you've got to decide matt or gloss. Its a world full of tough decisions. The more I look the more I lean towards gloss 4008.

mmm ginger beer.

Matt or gloss - the windows we are fitting at work are 40% gloss which looks good to me - I assume this will be an option

Had mine done baby blue - I can probably look up the RAL number when I get home, if you really need it.

Got to the powder coaters this morning - they had a limited amount of colours in so ended up plumping for RAL 6019. Sort of mint green probably a bit like the current colour:

[img] [/img]

Should be ok and they've offered to do the fork lowers for nowt too!

That cost me £30 and was flawless/hardwearing. I found that if your polite and explain the finish/if they'd avoid blobs etc etc they'll pay attention to detail and switch on their 'care' side rather than the spraying industrial gates etc etc that they get through all day every day.

Mines £35 inc stripping/masking - seemed keen to do a good job. For instance asking why i'm not getting the forks done the same and suggesting I bring them in and get them done free.

After:

Very happy with it for £35.00 🙂

Some paint in the BB threads shouldn't be to hard too shift should it?

[img] [/img]

So what colour bits then? Tasteful black? Blue or garish purple/orange?

Sand it off the ends of the shell to let the cups sit flush, then as long s the threads go together propelry just thing of the overspray as being like a nylock nut 🙂

Terrible picture, but that's RAL 6018 Yellow Green (Pretty much Kawasaki green IRL)

You'd be a fool to do anything other than black black black IMO - although I'm such a tart I de stickered everything on the bike and coloured in the tyre logos. Perhaps a bit far...

*edit - just noticed I'm a bit late on the uptake with this one. Any pics of the finished build?

Sort of on the same subject, does anyone happen to know the nearest RAL code for the red used on new-ish Ducati Monster motorbikes? My colleague has a 696 and I'd like to get something powdercoated or painted in the same colour.

A quick browse around the Ducati forums seems to suggest that Ducati have lots of different reds, and I'm not sure which one I need.

Anyone wanting any advice on Ral colours or powder coating in general let me know. Been in the game 25+ years and had my own company for the past twenty. There are some really nice metallics been developed at the mo as well as some super tough powders. Its difficult to reproduce colours on a screen but a decent coater will had loads of colour charts and hopefully samples for you to look at.
