Dropping me frame off for powder coat tomorrow and looking for inspiration.
Built up pics with RAl refs please 🙂
Looking good Simon - is that background real? 🙂
Cheers - it's called "Slickrock" 😉
hmmm...pink or brown there must be more of you out there. Was expecting a pic avalanche!
I'm going to do the same to my 456 when I get a minute...
I have been looking here.
http://www.e-paint.co.uk/RAL_Colourchart.asp
No pics as I've not had it done yet but trying to decide between 4008 and 4006
hmmm...pink or brown tough choice 😀
Inbred here Rizla - those charts don't show up too well on my laptop.
I'm thinking garish (kawasaki) green, lilac/lavender, matt black or battleship grey
4008 is something like one of the colours I have in mind
Gary - ROFL didn't even notive how that read! 😆
I've got a matt black and it looks good, also thought about battleship gray or olive but wanted to move away from stealth.
My other bike is a sort of in your face blue so stealth might be good
I like 5025 and 6000 at the moment... but that changes daily.
what prices are you being quoted?
£35 inc stripping masking
Monkey boy - didn't think you could do forks! That looks ace!
then you've got to decide matt or gloss. Its a world full of tough decisions. The more I look the more I lean towards gloss 4008.
mmm ginger beer.
I had my DMR done to match a red ruller, it's the same colour as red bic pen lids!
Matt or gloss - the windows we are fitting at work are 40% gloss which looks good to me - I assume this will be an option
Had mine done baby blue - I can probably look up the RAL number when I get home, if you really need it.
Baby blue on the list cheers Bob
Last bike I got done I wanted matt so didn't ask if there was a matt/gloss % gradient available so don't know that one.
tops 5 - you've sanded that top tube right(!) that's not from your legs is it?
Woodsman - it arrived from fleabay like that - described as the "patina look"
Totally ****ed look more like!
Hora - woud've gone for that green if they had it in
That cost me £30 and was flawless/hardwearing. I found that if your polite and explain the finish/if they'd avoid blobs etc etc they'll pay attention to detail and switch on their 'care' side rather than the spraying industrial gates etc etc that they get through all day every day.
Mines £35 inc stripping/masking - seemed keen to do a good job. For instance asking why i'm not getting the forks done the same and suggesting I bring them in and get them done free.
Bit late - but try this for next time...
Some good tips for the forks at he bottom of that page cheers!
Used a good one up near Oldham Road,results/price etc at the end of this thread:

Some paint in the BB threads shouldn't be to hard too shift should it?
Sand it off the ends of the shell to let the cups sit flush, then as long s the threads go together propelry just thing of the overspray as being like a nylock nut 🙂
Terrible picture, but that's RAL 6018 Yellow Green (Pretty much Kawasaki green IRL)
So what colour bits then? Tasteful black? Blue or garish purple/orange?
You'd be a fool to do anything other than black black black IMO - although I'm such a tart I de stickered everything on the bike and coloured in the tyre logos. Perhaps a bit far...
*edit - just noticed I'm a bit late on the uptake with this one. Any pics of the finished build?
D'oh meant to post this in Hora's what powder coated thread sorry - haven't even got the frame anymore!
Sorted/local as well. Ta 😀
Edit. Sheesh. Where to begin.
Sort of on the same subject, does anyone happen to know the nearest RAL code for the red used on new-ish Ducati Monster motorbikes? My colleague has a 696 and I'd like to get something powdercoated or painted in the same colour.
A quick browse around the Ducati forums seems to suggest that Ducati have lots of different reds, and I'm not sure which one I need.
Anymore colour ideas??????????????????
Anyone wanting any advice on Ral colours or powder coating in general let me know. Been in the game 25+ years and had my own company for the past twenty. There are some really nice metallics been developed at the mo as well as some super tough powders. Its difficult to reproduce colours on a screen but a decent coater will had loads of colour charts and hopefully samples for you to look at.
im going for a black swing arm and Rape Yellow front triangle. I wanted signal yellow but the closest they had was umm R'Yellow
