I am travelling to the UK in summer and would like to ship my bike from Spain as I will be travelling with two small kids and trying to lug a bike box + bags would be a nightmare.

There are lots of companies online that offer this service with a range of prices. Has anyone had any experience with any them?

I used SendMyBag, which used DHL. My bike arrived broken, something heavy had landed on the side of the box and broke the seat stay and made the wheels out of true. I had used a cardboard box from my LBS, and the shipping guys were not interested, just said th box did not meet specs.

Other guys at my company have used them with no problems. So YMMV.

That’s not a particularly inspiring story.

I’ll be shipping in a CRC bike bag but if they chuck something heavy on top it will be just as buggered.

I guess it sounds like I have to get it insured FTW.
