We're a couple of miles outside of Hereford on the A4103 and have been passed by 15-20 unmarked vehicles with blues n twos on. A variety of vehicles from Merc Sprinters, Volvo estates, Merc SUVs, Porsche Cayennes.

Is that the polis or the Hereford boys out on a fairly significant call?

... and noted (by the missus) that each driver looked exactly the same. Clone like.

I kid you not!

If they were going anywhere quickly, they wouldn't be driving...

The only remotely convincing role I've seen Sean Bean in was in Tracey's story or whatever it was called.

Most likely police with blues and twos going - may have been a CO19 training operation in conjunction with the other security service.

The other people just DO NOT draw attention to themselves. If they're out in traffic they'll just cut you up and tell you to **** off if you say anything.

Before anyone asks, I know people. Oh yes I do.

Do your people know my people?

Probably not, as if they did, my people would have to kill your people.....

They probably lease the cars from a middle-newly created government body specifically created to manage and lease cars to said agencies. This body probably has a Chief Exec on £300,000 a year.

Either that or its a PFI-type set up with the cars costing 3times what they can buy them for from a dealers or borrow from exisiting forces

Cynical kit-cat me.

By the way I can't talk about my time in the regiment, or the Ops that I led or name na

I saw a very similar convoy in the run-up to the olympics, apparently something to do with a dry run of the Torch relay. Anything similar due in the next few months?

<pedant>

Would (S)CO19 be training to responses outside Larden town? They are MET after all...

Could well have been one of the training convoys up to Scotland. Due to a lot of press about the use of Pen Y Fan and so many tourists standing around with cameras the special forces have started heading up to Scotland.

I was chatting to some out on Sealand ranges once and at DTE Swynnerton with them practising all sorts of things so they do train out of area but wouldn't be responding to stuff.

But they'll be using their training facilities and perhaps be training alongside the special forces as they oft work together

I'm led to believe the boys from Credenhill and the police have had a lot of collaboration lately, particularly counter-terrorism stuff.

I'm Thames Valley (Oxford) and on my advanced driving course we spent a few days driving (in unmarked cars equipped with blues and twos) into and around Wales, had lunch in Tebay Services (top local product and independently run) and a fish supper on a late run on the south coast. Regularly bumped into Metpol and other forces' driving courses in cafes all over the place, some roads are worth the journey.

And our specialist firearms teams trained regularly with the services and other forces teams in Wales and elsewhere.
