Just been watching episode 3 of this series, based around the story of the scuttler gangs of Salford. Really interesting to see how the families of the scuttlers & the family of the magistrate made our over the intervening 120+ yrs. Wealth & privilege begets wealth and privilege unsurprisingly enough, whilst the families of those who were at the very bottom of the Victorian pile didn’t fare quite so well.
