    1. Why is it easier to run outside, in a hilly forest than on a flat treadmill? can’t believe I spent the last year running indoors when I could have been out in forest (partial fear of wrecking ACL again was main reason).
    2. I need new shoes. Suggestions?
    3. Why are my nipples aroused after a run?
    4. Why didn’t anybody tell me that loads of women run and are friendly?
    5. I never noticed that this country smells mostly of dog poo.

    1) I always found the opposite! But possibly because its nice to run in surroundings that take your mind off the pain!
    2) no
    3) Dont want to know
    4) Secret we dont want you to know!
    5) Because we have far too many people with dogs letting them poo all over everything, or hanging it up in bags for the poo-fairy to collect.

    1. More interesting. Can’t believe people use those things when they have a front door they can open.
    2. Find a decent specialist running shop.
    3. Wet, chaffing t-shirt? Wear something wicky. Unless you like it of course.
    5. Lots of horse sh!t around here, which is less objectionable.

    2. Try some Adidas Kanadia on? A few places have em cheap, try Sports Direct. Won’t mind a bit of road too.

    can’t resist……….

    1. it’s not easier, you’ve chosen easy routes 😉
    2. go to a shop that does the gait analysis, especially if you’re doing ‘the marathon’
    3. nipple arousal, you must get turned on by your t-shirt!
    4. of course we’re friendly!
    6. you must have disgusting dog walkers that’s all i can say!

    1) different view every few steps, plenty fresh air to stimulate the senses no one around you to distract you.

2)Go to a proper sport shop and get them to test your running style to see what type of shoe you need .

    3) Its your Feminine side showing and you are possibly wearing a string vest

    4) Because you have been on a tread mill for the last year arousing your nipples

5 )Again you have not been out enough Dog Poo is the new Chewing Gum
its like a Shoe magnet and its a bugger to clean and you just have to sniff it.

    3. Actually, it was quite nice. But i have a feeling it will begin to chafe. not so erotic. Or maybe it was because I was wearing my mega avalanche jersy and was thinking of all those big hills?

1/ i hate treadmills, so prefer outdoors. Done my 110km cycle today, running shoes and shorts on and straight out for a 7 mile run straight after. Get a nike+ipod so you can record your runs and try for some PB’s. Lance or Paula will tell you your doing a smashing job every now and again. Runnig (after the first 5 minutes where i need to catch my breath and get a nice rhythm) is fun
2/ if your using a Nike+ipod then you’ll need a pair of nike’s. I use Nike zoom structure triax11 which are quite good though have taken my feet ages and a few blood blisters to get used too. If not them then i’d go back to Asaics. There not the lightest though plus my feet have a tendency to overheat( especially when i use the stepper machine at the gym)
3/ plasters, that’l cure the nipple thing. There constantly rubbing on your fabric so you need something which causes less friction
4/ girls need to keep fit as well you know. try local running clubs to find out when they go for run’s. Like running outdoors it’ll take your mind of actually running, improve your fitness and increase your speed
5/ Do what footballers do and rub a bit of vicks on your running shirt, it’l keep your airways clear and you’ll smell nothing but niceness ( provided you like the smell of vicks)

If you like trail running it could be worth getting some trail running shoes. They have nice grippy studded soles for those muddy hills. I’m loving my inov8 roclite 315’s. They have a massive range and only cost me 60 quid. Not worn road shoes in over a year.

    1. Because the scenery is much more interesting.
    2. Go to a specialist shop.
    3. Vaseline on yer nips before you go out. Enjoy the sensation 🙂
    4. I noticed that when I went for a run in London last year – I usually run in Spain, and Spanish women don’t really go in for running, at least not round where I live…
    5. It doesn’t.

I’m guessing you are Conor from MTBrider?

If you are getting new shoes you might as well get your gait analysed, Up&Running in Belfast are good. Podium in Castlereagh have a few good deals on but don’t do analysis. As for brands, they are all slightly different shapes. I went though New Balance, Adidas, Nike, thinking that blisters were just part of braking in shoes. Now I always buy Asics and I’ve never had a blister from them. Find the right brand for your fett and stick to it!

I would be wary of out and out trail shoes, the lack of cushioning means you should only really use them off road.

I find treadmills easier. I’m a fat bugger, and not used to running, so the bounce of the treadmill flatters my non-bouncy tendons.

    For shoes tho, get analysed.

Only the case for fell shoes or XC spikes (and you can even use fell shoes for a little bit of road). “trail shoes” by big brands tend to have almost as much cushioning as the road shoes they’re derived from. The Roclite 315s mentioned above also have a decent amount of cushioning and work fine on road, even if they’re not what I’d choose for that.

The name of the exact shoe escapes me but salomon do a light trail running shoe which is a pretty good all rounder. £60 or so from Tiso. I feel I must add that I hate running. I want to run, but I hate it. And it makes my knees sore. Glad I got that off my chest.

    Cheers lads (and lass).

Shandy… my reputation proceeds me as ever!!

GNARGNAR… that’s the kind of shoe I’m looking for, i’m not doing serious mileage or rough terrain. Just need to get to about 8 miles for the marathon leg in may.

My legs and right knee are really, really sore today. That’s why I normally use the treadmill. Might pop back to my physio for check-up.
