For standard broadband through a phone line, you just need an “ADSL modem router”.

I like TP-Link routers, they are reasonably priced, and work fine. eg something like this: http://www.pcworld.co.uk/gbuk/networking/networking/bt-wireless-routers/tp-link-td-w8968-wireless-adsl-modem-router-n300-22068974-pdt.html

There are more expensive versions, which have faster wifi etc. So maybe worthwhile if transferring large files, or using several computers at once.
