They;re new, they're going to have problems.

That's why i'm not going to get one until next year when they've ironed out the teething problems.

When my head stock came loose, I phoned the Sram people at Fisher and seriously, they fixed mine within 24 hours. DHL there, fixed and returned on the same (next) day, so basically sent it on Tuesday and it came back on Thursday.

Oooooh... that could be the best news I've ever had geetee.

Yeah speak to them nicely, explain the situation and more than likely you'll have it back for the trip north.

Looks like they might've got smart at Fisher as the only contact means is via e-mail 🙁

Did mine under warranty with Evans. Mine was a mark one version and the fluid nipple broke after a few rides - seems this was ankjown problem as the mark two has a thicker one. Took almost two weeks but that was mainly down the Evans not really understanding the problem

have a speci command since one year now..no probs...
and an old GD..ugly ..but it works...

KS I900 mine has been fine for over 18months, just bought a Reverb, so I'm hoping it will be just as good, KS is on my Remedy , Reverb on my 5

Cheaper and more reliable to put your seat down yourself, or run it at a height you can ride everything.

Yep... I'm going to buy a quick release clamp tomorrow, never saw a point to one of these posts until I bought a hardcore HT.

i repaired one with the same issue.
the seal head at the bottom of the slider undoes its self allowing the oring to slip out of place. all you need to do is undo it half way slip a little thread lock on the threads, then screw it nice n tight.
give the post a bit of sus greace while you have it in bits.
and your all good.

just what everyou do dont, and i mean dont take the damper apart or the circlip and bits from around the seat clamp off. if you have the post any more apart that in the tech manual (page 6 diagram)
rock shox do not warranty the post and it will cost about £150 for the damper.

to hold the thin shaft i used shimano hose cut holders (the yellow plastic hose holder thingys) [img] [/img]
you need to use something like these to hold the shaft in a vice to get the post off the damper.
holding the shaft undo the end with the air valve 🙂
and you should be able to fix the post at home 🙂
and service the slider too saving you endless cash on servicing 🙂

Thanks Dezmtber that is indeed what had happened I had no threadlok to hand so just tightened it back up .

Craply assembled as on the video for seal replacement they go on about torqueing the fixings I was able to undo all of them with my hands.
Bastards.

now it will hold air but wont stay up or down I guess this is a bleed the remote problem next ???

Thanks Dez... bits of mine were coming undone by hand so I'd already done similarly... using a tech service video online.

Mine is leaking air from the top end of the shaft? Think it's just going to have to go back.

Thanks for the info. Will have a go at servicing mine soon. Trout when.my remote needed bleeding the post was stuck in the up position, so not sure if that is your problem.....

In an amazing stroke of luck the lady (read absolute star) who deals with SRAM warranty returns lives just around the corner from me.

Seatpost dropped at hers last night and should be back in my possession tonight!!

Now that is what I call customer service... infact it is above and beyond anything I would ever expect. Thank you Fisher.

Adjustable seatposts are just for the lazy and idle amongst us. Those who've got so used to sitting around watching TV at home, or sat behind their desks "at work".

They've got so used to sitting around, the concept of riding a bike without being seated is something thats never even crossed their minds.

I work a real job and live a proper life and am on my feet allday, my bike riding and setup reflects this. I ride with the saddle all the way down - its out of the way for gnarly stuff and because Im not lazy I pedal my bike stood up.

Thats ace but what if we dont live there?

DT - Personally I think having a saddle on your bike is lazy. It gives you the option to sit down. I very much doubt that being penetrated by a bare seatpost is going to be any fun. Being able to adjust it high keeps me on my toes... literally.

sweet fisher warranty i will say is the best around really.
i had the totem 2 step forks, the 2 step broke they fitted a solo air.
i rode them for a year and the 2 step fix was not avalable so they offered me either the price difference or a full refund 🙂
after a year riding them, thats just above and beyond.

The Gravity Dropper has been around forever and works brilliantly. When it does (rarely) go wrong you can fix it with a multitool and, just occasionally, a set of mole grips. They are proper workmanlike kit. But incredibly ugly, so people would rather buy flashier prettier non-working [i]crap.[/i]

Thanks guys. I had nothing but problems with the Joplin and was just about to buy one of these thinking that Rockshox have had a bit of experience in seals and would make a reliable product.
I have a GD and agree with the comments above that they are very easy to fix yourself. They are also quite easy to customise by creating custom drop heights with extra drill holes in the stem.
I have read lots of good things about the KS posts and no real stories of failures. I have however lost my faith in hydrolic posts.
The other I like the look of is this one.
