  • Removing moss from roof, worth doing?

I have a fair bit of moss on my roof – is it worth me getting up there and removing it?

I’m not going to pressure wash it or pay £££ for a company to do it for me.

    Cheers!

Gut instinct is to remove it, yes — will only grow, retain moisture and generally degrade your roof otherwise, unless you’re going for Grand Designs style Hobbit house.

What material is your roof? tiles (clay, slate, wood) I assume?

clay tiles – and i think the moss is probably scrubbing some of this off considering the amount of sandy cack in my gutters!

stuff you can pull off yes

dont go pressure washing it or using chemicals on it.

if its more like surface algue id just leave it – infact i have.

some pikeys will be round offering to get it off for you soon enough im sure

No leave it, it causes no harm. If you have moss now it will only regrow anyway.

I suppose my only concern would be water-retaining moss in winter, might affect the tiles in freeze/thaw action.
