Possibly a question for the mods...

There are some questions that are regularly asked on here, and you can even sometimes see more than one very similar at the same time. Typical would be : 'How much for a used bike', 'Where to ride/stay in Scotland', etc. And most of the replies are the same each time.

Is there an argument to make one or two of these sticky?

no because no one wants to be scrolling down any more than they do now to get to the new stuff when they're on a mobile.

People will still post the 'what's my bike worth' q's. Just because ๐Ÿ˜‰

I was going to say I'd similarly asked something similar but thepodge has linked to it. My thought was that a sudden news item (like the death of someone famous) could be made sticky for a while to stop duplicate threads starting then once folk knew it was there it could revert to being non-sticky.

Only needs to be one or two such threads as a maximum.

Perhaps people should use the search button the ensure no repetitious thread filling up the forums, unles it was ironic.

I don't think it would work. If we had a sticky gravel bike thread we would have a bout 120 pages off fantastic advice which could easily be understood with a little patience and say 6 hours. I would be on it all the time giving my often ill informed opinons.

But it would be fairly useless to anyone who was new to the subject

I say let people ask. If they get an answer it floats. If it sinks then C'est la vie as the say in France

On occasion we do get one thread for a subject, and it works remarkably well, with questions which have been answered not being repeated later on in the thread because people do read all of the thread before posting:

TBF, various other threads have been closed down in order to keep all that EU stuff in one place.
