Next summer I’m off on a 2 week school trip. Last year the team adopted ‘The Gambler’ by Kenny Rogers as their theme. It’s a great tune, everyone can sing along and there’s some real wisdom in it in a cheesy way.

I’m tending towards something by Johnny Cash for this year but I’m open to suggestions…

The Devil went down to Georgia by The Charlie Daniels Band (you may need lyric sheets though).

Stand by Me – Ben E King

American Pie – Don McLean (lyric sheets again possibly)

Lean on me – Bill Withers

And loads more I can’t think of right now that were very popular pub sing along songs back in my youth!

Whenever my daughters are about to go off on one, stupid strop or whatever, I like to sing them “Happy Talk” (the Captain Sensible version). So I’d go for that.

Like that. If we mastered that then we’d all have a bit of a party trick for ever more.

Wild Rover was always a song that got everyone singing loudly on our bothying trips in Scotland but not sure if that counts as quirky enough

Just get the Chas and Dave greatest hits CD and play on repeat. My vote for one song though would be the Sideboard song.
